Prayer
Scripture Reading
Matthew 6:9–13 CSB
“Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
John 14:1–6 CSB
“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. You know the way to where I am going.” “Lord,” Thomas said, “we don’t know where you’re going. How can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John 14:27 CSB
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.
Family Memories
Eulogy delivered on behalf of the Grand-Children
We will always cherish the beautiful memories we have of our Grandmother, Ruth Drake. It isn’t often in our lives that we come across someone so special that they will live in our hearts forever. Granny was that kind of person!
She was a true woman of faith who loved the Lord with all her heart. There is no doubt that she is in heaven smiling down and watching over us now. She is absent from the body, but present with the Lord! She is reunited with all her family and loved ones who passed on before her and she would want us to rejoice in the good news that as believers we will see her again someday.
No matter what she went through in life she always said “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13. She remained strong in her faith and never wavered. She offered words of encouragement and inspiration to others and said that if you want to have a good life, “Put God first and everything else will fall into place”.
There will be times in our lives when situations arise where we’ll want so much to talk to her, be with her or ask her just what we should do. But, when those times come we can know that she lives on in the values and beliefs she has instilled in each of us. Her legacy will live on through her family.
We are blessed to have been a part of your life. We thank you for your wisdom, your courage, your tenderness and compassion, your understanding, your patience and most of all your unconditional enduring love.
We’re grateful for a life well lived.
The following poem says it all:
Legacy of Love - Unknown
A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you
You taught us love and how to fight
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another

Message
As we have gathered here today to remember Miss Ruth Drake we’s be amiss not to mention the things in life most important to her. Many of you know how much she loved to work in the yard, planting flowers. She loved her church. She told me several times that she couldn’t wait for the pandemic to pass so she could return to worship with her Church. She loved her family. As we read the Obituary, I’m sure that many of you couldn’t help but notice that many of her closest loved ones preceded her in death. She went through many hard times and trials.
Yet Miss Drake was known as a woman that did not complain. So what was the secret to her strength? If her grand-kids were standing in my place they would tell you that she always focused on the Lord.
A minute ago I mentioned how it would be amiss for me not to tell you of the things that were important to Miss Ruth and above all her faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ was most Important. This relationship with the Lord was her strength. It kept her going during those hard times.
Her family told me how She loved the verse
John 3:16 CSB
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
This verse gave her hope. She knew that one day all things would be made right because she was loved and had been forgiven of her sins by payment of Jesus, death and resurrection. Because of her faith Miss Ruth is not dead but is rejoicing in perfect joy and peace with her Savior. She wouldn;t want any of you to reject the message of the Gospel and end spend an eternity in Hell.
If Miss Ruth were standing here today she would want each and everyone of you to examine your heart and ask this question, “Do you know Jesus?” Not to you know about Him, but do you know Him? Have you come to a point in your life where you have turned away from your sin and in faith turned, believed, and embraced Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
Maybe today you hear asking the question
“What must I do to be Saved?”
Jesus Said in
Mark 1:15 CSB
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”
To repent means simply to turn from you sin to decide that you are now going to give your life to Christ. The good news for every sinner is this:
Romans 10:9–13 CSB
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame, since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
All those you repent and believe the Good news of the Gospel will one day be rejoicing along side Miss Ruth in heaven.

This concludes are service.

Isaiah 41:10 CSB
Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.
2 Corinthians 5:1 CSB
For we know that if our earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal dwelling in the heavens, not made with hands.
John 11:25 CSB
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live.
Committal
In the light of these promises God has given us in His Word and in as much as it has pleased the Lord in His sovereign wisdom and purpose to take from our midst one whom we have loved, we now commit her body to its final resting place to await the fulfillment of another promise of the final resurrection.
Prayer

Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thess. 5:23).
