1. Our children are not our own

God wants us to realize that her children are not our own This is a concept Jesus mother had to learn early on.
Jesus being presented at the temple video
Luke 2:22–35 ESV
22 And when the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every male who first opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord”) 24 and to offer a sacrifice according to what is said in the Law of the Lord, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” 25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, 29 “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation 31 that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.” 33 And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him. 34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is opposed 35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”
35 (and a sword will pierce through your own soul also), so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”
Jesus’s mother and father are given This Intense prophecy by Simon Who had waited his whole life To give it.
So often We forget That children Our gift from God But any good gift from God Belongs to him.
It is just our job to raise them To train them and too Put them out there in this world. And let God’s Holy Spirit do the work.
Proverbs 22:6 ESV
6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
In the New Testament parallel-is found In.
Ephesians 6:4 NLT
4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
So our children Are not our own We are merely called Two Train them By example the Things of the Lord
So God gives us two lists of things in the Bible. Things that The flesh represents And things that God’s spirit working in our life to represents
And if we have the second list Consistently in our everyday life that is going to be the training that our children need To not depart away from the Lord When they get old
The first list Is found in
Galatians 5:19–21 NLT
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
So the question is Do we have These Traits that come from our sinful Fleshly Past In our life And are these things Keeping us From A life that shows our children God’s best.
So often we confuse being nice As a sign Of Godliness But that is not What the Bible says.
sexual immorality
impurity,
lustful pleasures
idolatry
sorcery
hostility
quarreling
jealousy
outbursts of anger
selfish ambition
dissension
division
envy
drunkenness
wild parties
and other sins like these
So as parents We need to realize hatOur children are our own That we are called To train them Buyer words And our lifestyle What should our lives look like.
Galatians 5:22–26 NLT
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. 25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.
love
joy,
peace,
patience
kindness
goodness
faithfulness
gentleness
self-control
So if you want to know is the Holy Spirit Working in and through your lives Is the Holy Spirit producing God’s fruit in your life These things should be evident in our lives To the point that even our family season on a consistent basis
And the only thing That will produce that In our lives Is the spirit of God working in our lives consistently

2. God will remind us

There are several different places in the Bible where Jesus had to remind his mother That he was accountable To the timetable of the father.
And is will Admission for his life.
Luke 2:41–52 ESV
41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom. 43 And when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, 44 but supposing him to be in the group they went a day’s journey, but then they began to search for him among their relatives and acquaintances, 45 and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him. 46 After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. 48 And when his parents saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50 And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. 51 And he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them. And his mother treasured up all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
49 And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
The next is When Jesus turned water into wine.
John 2:1–11 ESV
1 On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. 3 When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” 4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6 Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. 7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it. 9 When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom 10 and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.” 11 This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.
4 And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”
The last one is here
Matthew 12:46–50 ESV
46 While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. 48 But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” 49 And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
We need to understand that our children Are not our own And God is going to do things in our lives to remind us of that over and over and over again.
I am extremely protective father And I Struggle with People pleasing.
And also as a pastor I want my children to Love In honor God.
But Sometimes that comes from a place of
want God’s best for them Sometimes it comes from a place of I don’t want to be embarrassed.
But the thing is God calls us his children And we embarrass him all the time.
The reality is I am called to train my children And let them go.

3.We need to let them go and become what God calls him to be.

Psalm 127:4–5 ESV
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. 5 Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Now this verse is been misused a lotIn Christian circles.
There’s a context that needs to take place here Back in the day When Family units were your main source of protection Agriculture all those types of things Having a house full of children Was an extremely important thing.
Now I’m not saying having a lot of kids is a bad thing or Having a small family is a bad thing I want us To pay attention to the principle that is at hand.
Tony Evans makes this point

Children are like arrows in the hand of a warrior (127:4). But, if they are to hit their targets—that is, to fulfill their kingdom purposes—parents must shape them and aim them correctly. Boys and girls must be raised to know the Lord, gaining experiential knowledge of God through watching their moms and dads live in dependence on him.

127:5 The man whose quiver is filled with such “arrows” will never be put to shame. He will send his children into the world so that they honor God and their families. Building the next generation is important kingdom work, so don’t presume to engage in it without bringing your parenting under submission to the King’s agenda.

All we have control over Is how we live our lives And by our daily living pointing our children to Jesus Christ. And when we fall short of this Ideal We Merely say Forgive me I’m wrong.
