The Gospel is for those we love

The Gospel is for those we are called to.
The gospel will produce both an softening in people and a hardening of heart.
Paul is persistant with his message to the Jews because he loves them. He desires their salvation. He does this throughout the known world.
The gospel is polarizing. In and of itself it is polarizing. It doesn’t need more help!
-Rejoicing
Worship wrongly attributed.
Worshipers- we are all worshipers. People desire to worship and give tribute to the people and things they think will bring them the most satisfaction, yet the only true and proper object of our worship is God. These people quickly turned on Paul and Barnabas.
v11. The Gospel is that God would come down as a man, yes. Many false religions have similarities to the true story. But the gospel is not that God would come down to preform a simple miracle but to come down, condescending, as a man, fully God and fully man, to heal physically, to do miracles, yes, but to come and save sinners.
19-20 Opposition comes from far away (100m). It comes in from a distance, it’s persistent.
Paul and Barnabas retrace their route to strengthen the churches
Paul’s miraculous healing of the man in 14:8-10 is the same type of healing from both Peter and Jesus.
11-13 Syncretism- COEXIST
