BE CONSTANT, AND KEEP & SEEK GOD’S COMMANDMENTS — 1 Chr 28:2-10 (V7-8)

David was near death, and Solomon and the dignitaries were called to David. God would not allow David to build the Temple, but chose Solomon to build it. David instructed Solomon on the building of temple and of his house, family. The potential was great. He could have an everlasting kingdom, and leave an inheritance to his children forever. God only required two main things: “Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day. 8 Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave [it] for an inheritance for your children after you for ever,” (1 Chr 28:7-8).

If

we want to have God’s blessings on us we must follow this example! We need to be strong for the Lord and the things of the LORD. We need to do it willing from our hearts. Take heed for God has made you part of the body of Christ Jesus. THE WORDS TO REMEMBER IS CONSTANT, KEEP, AND SEEK THE COMMANDMENTS AND JUDGMENTS OF GOD.

I. {1CH28:7} WE MUST BE CONSTANT IN OUR FOLLOWING GOD.

1. To be Constant is to be “persistent. 2. Unchanging in nature, value, or extent; invariable.… 3. Steadfast in purpose, loyalty, or affection; faithful,” {AHDW}.

A. It also has the idea of continuing & progressing in the direction one is going.

2. The word ‘commandments’ is clear enough, all that God commands, but what about the word judgment?

A. The word judgment can mean the precepts of God, but more in the way we judge things.

B. It is the judgments we make about the things that we do – Is it according to the word of God, or of man, the devil or the world?

C. We must judge with righteous judgment: John 7:24

3. The Child of God must always be obedience to receive the blessings.

A. Many of the blessings, which GOD has for us, carry conditions.

a. Believe and be saved; Be faithful and receive a reward;

b. Which blessings that God has for us that do not carry conditions?

c. WE are made the children of God, but only those that received Christ by faith!

B. Not to obey is rebellion, and rebellion is the sin of witchcraft: 1 Sam 15:23

a. Reject the word of God shows rebellion and stubbornness.

b. Saul rejected the word of God, not by word, but by deed: 1 Sam 15:20

c. Saul had a different version of the Bible than Samuel; His had added words, as do many today.

4. It is not only to be obedient, but also to be constantly obedient.

A. There are many that follow the precepts of God for a time, but fall away.

B. There are many that follow the word of God today, next week, etc., but not constantly.

C. The blessings are received when we follow God Constantly.

5. The idea of constant is to be strong in the commandments and judgments of God.

A. We find our strength in the LORD: Eph 6:10

a. Yes we can do all things through Christ Jesus our LORD: Php 4:13

B. The blessings would be Joshua if he would stand strong: Jos 1:6-7

a. He could be strong in the word of the LORD: Jos 1:9

C. Stand in the Grace of God: 2 Tim 2:1-3

a. God will perfect and strengthen us by the trials and tribulations: 1 Pet 5:10-11

D. Men are to be Men: 1 Cor 16:13 “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”

II. {1CH28:8} WE MUST KEEP AND SEEK THE COMMANDMENTS OF OUR LORD.

1. In order to be constant in the word of God, we must be keepers and seekers of the word of God.

2. To keep is to guard it: Pro 23:23

A. Do not let the word of God slip from you; keep in your heart and mind.

B. Do not let other things come into your life that takes the place of the word of God.

3. To seek the word is to continually seek God’s answers for the situation.

A. Do not rely on your own ideas or of others, seek out God’s answer in His word.

B. As you seek bath it with prayer: Luke 11:9

4. If you will keep and seek God He will bless you and your children.

A. It will give them a blessing that no rich man, without Christ, could leave his children.

B. It will be a blessing that will help guide them all the days of their life: Pro 22:6

a. Whether God saves them or not, it will bless them all the days of their life.

III. {1CH28:9}THE SAINT MUST SERVE WITH A PERFECT HEART & A WILLING MIND.

1. We must serve the Father with a perfect heart and a willing mind.

A. When your mind is not willing, then your heart is not perfect before the LORD.

a. This is where some of the confusion between the spirit, soul and body of man.

b. The will of man is sometimes referred to as the heart of man, while at other times it is clearly the inner man.

B. Willing mind is described in: 2 Cor 9:7

a. To do things grudgingly or just because you have to, is sin.

b. Of course it is a greater sin not to do it at all.

2. The key to this passage is 1 Tim 1:5, the condition to all that we do for the LORD

A. Because of the Love of God in us, that we do these out of love: 2 Cor 5:14-15

B. It is not hindered when our consciences are right before God.

C. Finally, this faith in God must be without hypocrisy.

a. It is not a pretend faith, but a real God given faith!

b. It is Not play acting, but of sincerity: 2 Cor 2:17

3. God searches all hearts, and understands all that is there: Jer 17:9-10

A. There is nothing hid from God, as it says in: Heb 4:12-13

B. God knows if you are seeking Him, with your whole heart.

C. If you will seek Him with a perfect heart, wholly looking for God, you will find Him!

4. {1Ch28:9b}There is a grave warning here in this passage – “if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.”

A. This was under the covenant of law and not of Grace.

B. But there is a warning to us – Many have been removed from their ministry and from the LORD’S church because they forsook the LORD & His judgment.

C. Some are died early because they played Church!

5. {1Ch28:10} Take heed God has chosen you to be part of the body of Christ, His church.

A. With the privilege comes a great responsibility of being part of His body.

B. We cannot do what other saints do and get by with it.

C. God reveals more to us, and we have a greater responsibility.

6. What are we to do? “be strong, and do [it].

THE WORDS TO REMEMBER IS CONSTANT, KEEP, AND SEEK THE COMMANDMENTS AND JUDGMENTS OF GOD. TAKE SERIOUS YOUR CALLING IN CHRIST JESUS!
