THE PUSHCART OF HEALING
A tribe called Karbis lives In a remote village called Rongphar in Assam, India. It is a forest area and less connected with the modern facilities of the nearby city, Guwahati. When people in that village fall sick, they carry them on a pushcart to the nearby clinic which is about ten kilometres away.
The cart is useful but it still requires someone to push it. Today, we are going to be talking about how you can be involved in the healing ministry of Jesus. How you can push that cart for you friend, family, co-worker, or loved one.

Jesus connecting
with poor
healing.
Question:
Jesus had supernatural
healing power.
If I do not...
how can I be like Jesus?
To understand healing
you must understand
disease.
Disease From A Biblical Perspective
Disease From A Biblical Perspective
Let’s understand disease
As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.
then goes to heal him...
Why blind?
Not because
someone sinned.
Part of living
in great controversy.
world of brokenness.
Another story
And getting into a boat he crossed over and came to his own city. And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.” And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic—“Rise, pick up your bed and go home.”
In this story...
was there a connection
between sin and
illness?
Yes,
HEALS HIM BY
FORGIVING HIM!
Another Passage
Like a sparrow in its flitting, like a swallow in its flying,
a curse that is causeless does not alight.
If there is a curse.
there is a cause.
Usually,
There is a reason.
Usually,
our own decisions.
Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
Choices = Consequences
Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them,
for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds.
Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him,
for what his hands have dealt out shall be done to him.
Good Choices =
Good Results
Bad Choices
= Bad Results
Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people,
the fruit of their devices,
because they have not paid attention to my words;
and as for my law, they have rejected it.
Key Phrase:
“The fruit of their devices...”
“The fruit of their devices...”
Natural Laws
God allows natural
consequences.
Many people say.
“I have Type 2 Diabetes. It runs in my family. It is hereditary.”
“I have Type 2 Diabetes. It runs in my family. It is hereditary.”
Is this true?
partially.
Science has discovered...
Epigenetics
Epigenetics
Epigenetics is the study of heritable changes in gene expression (active versus inactive genes) that do not involve changes to the underlying DNA sequence — a change in phenotype without a change in genotype — which in turn affects how cells read the genes. Epigenetic change is a regular and natural occurrence but can also be influenced by several factors including age, the environment/lifestyle, and disease state. Epigenetic modifications can manifest as commonly as the manner in which cells terminally differentiate to end up as skin cells, liver cells, brain cells, etc.
Allow me to translate...
Your genes are not fixed
from your birth.
Your genes can change.
based on how you live!
You can turn on and off
certain aspects
in your genetic code.
This is seen powerfully
in lifestyle changes.
Question:
Is Type 2 Diabetes a genetic problem?
Yes...
Technically
A problem that is effected by our genes.
Deeper question:
Is Type 2 Diabetes hereditary?
Not very much.
It is familial.
Like all of the biggest killers in Standard American Culture.
It is primarily lifestyle related.
Familial Means:
It runs in my family
because the people
in my family
all make the same types
of decision...
