Like A Mother, God Gives Comfort

In the verse 10 we read of an exhortation made to certain people.
I believe a description of those people begins in Vs.2:
But to this one will I look, this is the one I ESTEEM:
To the one who is humble
To the one who is contrite
to the one who trembles at God’s Word
The Fire Bible tells us:
God is not impressed with the splendor or extreme beauty of any building that humans may construct for Him. However, he does delight in a certain kind of person (vv. 1-2)—one who is humble, who recognizes the need for God’s constant help and grace and who sincerely tries to follow his Word.
Are we such people?!?
Oh, Lord, help us have these qualities!
And then, God speaks to those who also in verse 10:
have loved Jerusalem
and mourned over her.
Psalm 122:6 NASB95
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you.
God says:
I want you to think of Jerusalem like a mother
verse 7-9
Jerusalem, through the power of the Holy Spirit has been birthing sons and daughters since the Day of Pentecost 2000 years ago.
So be joyful and rejoice!

Be Joyful & Rejoice!

Rejoice that Mama will nurse her babies to the point of complete satisfaction.
God encourages Jerusalem’s babies to, as verse 11 says ...
God is going to bless Mama Zion
with peace like a river
with the glory of the nations like an OVERFLOWING stream
So then, the sons and the daughters with be blessed in all these motherly ways:

Cared for Like a Baby

The first blessing for those who:
Are humble
Are contrite of spirit
And who tremble at God’s Word
Those who
Love Jerusalem
Who pray for her with tears of mourning
These folks are going to know the ultimate in motherly care.
We already read about being nursed.
God satisfies the hungry
I guess we should have sang the hymn, Come and Dine
Come and dine the Master says, for He satisfies the hungry EVERY time EVERY time!.
God satisfies those who are hungry for that which satisfies the most important part of us — the soul.
Those who are tired of the emptiness this world gives.
I was reading in Missionary God, Missionary Bible, yesterday. It reminds me of how Isaiah 66 starts. It says:
The Lord alone is Creator, owner, ruler, judge, revealer, lover, savior, leader, and reconciler because in relation to the heavens, earth, and all the nations, the Lord made them, the Lord owns them, the Lord governs them, the Lord calls all to account, the Lord speaks the truth, the Lord loves all He has made, the Lord saves all who turn to Him, the Lord guides the nations, and the Lord will bring peace. “Ultimately, we pay the cost of putting ultimate trust in what can never deliver ultimate security. Ultimately, it seems, we never learn that false gods can never fail to fail. That is the only thing about a false god you can depend on.
So many people are looking to false gods to to satisfy them. Not Mama Zion’s milk … instead the false gods of money, fame, possessions, sex, power and on and on.
Why?
Ultimately, it seems, we never learn that false gods can never fail to fail. That is the only thing about a false god you can depend on.
So, servants of the most high God, it’s time to nurse at mama’s bountiful breast.
It’s time to let Mama carry us.
Anybody ever get tired?
We try to walk on our own — all alone.
And yet, slogging through this world wears us out.
Let’s let Mama carry us in her arm, carry us on her hip.
Let’s let mama fondle us on her knees.
What a picture!
Sitting on mama’s lap playing “patty cake,” tickling us, loving on us!
Wow!
But that’s not all mama does, she also comforts us.

Like a mother comforts

God says, Mama Jerusalem?
No!
I will be like a mother to you.
You do realize that as much as God is our heavenly Father, He is also like a mother to us.
He comforts us with a comfort that revitalizes us
That makes our heart glad.
Anyone who has suffered depression knows how it wears a person out!
God revitalizes us by lifting up our hearts with gladness
That causes our bones to flourish
Isaiah 58:11 NASB95
“And the Lord will continually guide you, And satisfy your desire in scorched places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
He comforts us so that ALL will know.
Especially we His servants will know that God’s hand is on us.
God’s watch-care over His children is a testimony to those who are outside of relationship with God.
IF, we give testimony to it.
Just as we praise mama on mother’s day for her care of us, let’s praise God EVERYDAY for His all-sufficient care for us.
But don’t get on mama’s bad side.
Vs.14 He will be indignant towards His enemies.

Mama’s Indignation

Many of you remember that margarine commercial from years ago?
It’s not nice to fool mother nature.
Well take that and REALLY turn up the volume!
It is the height of foolishness to make ANY mama mad — especially where it concerns her children.
God is like that!
How bad can it be?
Vs. 24
So, I encourage us to stay of God’s good side.
How do we do that?
By accepting Hos only begotten Son as the Savior of the world.
To acknowledge and believe Jesus is the ONLY way of salvation — not A way — He is the ONLY way, there is no other.
Have you done that?
If not, I encourage you to do it right now.

Thank You Mom!

I would like to end the service by asking all the women to come forward.
Women 18 and older, please come up front.
I have said it for the last few weeks and I continue to say it — women are indispensible for the advancement of the Kingdom.
Let’s lay hands on these ladies and thank God for them.
Let’s ask God’s blessings on them.
