The Purpose of the Altar—To Offer a Sacrifice

Why Another Altar?

Substitutionary Altar—There travel would at times not be in an area where they could gather dirt. They would need something that was avaliable.

There was stability in the stone—The stones would have been there for ages.

The Stone was consoladiated material. (Unity In Christ. God made one out of many. Jew & Gentile). The church is one body composed of many members.

The Stone was not to be manufactured by man’s hand.—no man made religion would be accepted by God. With man’s hands his best is as filty rags.

The Stone is the very person of God. As God it is 2 Sam.22:2-3
