When a group of tourists visited a crocodile farm, the owner of the place launched a bold proposal; - Whoever dares to jump, swim to the coast and survive, I'll give you $ 1 million.
No one dared to move, suddenly, a man jumped into the water and desperately swam to the shore while being chased by all the crocodiles.
With enormous luck came, taking everyone's admiration at the scene, then the owner announced; - We have a brave winner.
After collecting his reward, the couple returned to the hotel, upon arrival, the manager told him; he was very brave to jump, then the man said; - I didn't jump, someone pushed me!
His wife smiled...
Moral: ′′ Behind every successful man, there's a woman who pushes him "...
Behind every successful child, is a mom who pushes them to success, who helps mold and shape them, who loves them, and motivates them. I know some of you today a currently living this reality, some of you are newer parents than others, some of you have have gone thru the struggles and battles of being a Godly mother, some of you have experienced tremendous loss as a mother, for some, for some of you you may not be mothers in a physical way but you poor your life into helping others and you are spiritually a mother and we want to give you thanks, and tell you from the bottom of our hearts that we see you and acknowledge your love, struggle, and your loss.
The bible is filled with Godly women. women who give themselves wholly to the Lord. Miriam, Leah, Hannah, Ruth, Woman of Prov. 31, but this morning I want to look at probably the greatest human parent of all time? Can you guess who it might be? MARY As we turn to Luke 1:28ff may we consider several attributes that made her a great parent and more importantly a cross-centered parent and may we try to incorporate these attributes in our own lives as we strive to be Christ centered Christians.
Mary tried to see in herself what God saw in here.
can you imagine what it must have been like to have the angel Gabriel come to you and not only tell you that you are going to have a child but not just any child this will be the Son of God because he will be conceived by the H.S. What do you think was going through here mind. I think we know a little of what was going through her mind.
Luke 1:28–29 NASB95
And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was.
she questioned the statement. she was perplexed. What me, why me? I’m just simple ole Mary. You are going to give me this responsibility? I want you to wrap your head around this statement this morning. God selected Mary out of all the woman that were in existence! He called here favored one? What did God see in her, that he selected her out all that was in existence? Think about it, God knew the cross was apart of her future from the beginning. Could it be that God knew that she had the character to endure watching her son die on the cross for the sins of mankind. I am sure part of her perplexed stemmed from fear. I remember when Amy told me she was pregnant with Kaden. I cried like a baby because I was scared to death. I wasn’t ready. All of the questions of doubt and fear began to appear before me. I don’t have myself straightened out yet how in the world can I teach a child how to grow up and follow the Lord. The responsibility was overwhelming.
But God saw something in Mary. He saw something in you and me as well
Psalm 127:3 NASB95
Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward.
children really are a gift and we should not take them for granted parents. We ought to thank God everyday for them. Even the ones that make our lives difficult and who wander off the path of righteousness. God blessed us with them , he saw something in us, possibility, character. God sees something in each one of us that sometimes we don’t see in our selves. All of us need to see what God sees in us we are valuable, important, and all have a role to play. Are you doubting Gods purpose for your life? Have you forgotten that you are the image of God. Mary had to learn to see what God saw in her and so do we. But I think we can see from the life of Mary that she came to the conclusion that she was going to be all in for God.
2) We need to be all in for God!
Luke 1:38 NASB95
And Mary said, “Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; may it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
Mary responded by stating that she was a bondslave - I am here to do your biding. My main concern is you and your will Lord. At that point she turned herself over to the will of God. This is your will and I will follow it no matter how difficult. You know what was involved in His will? Her son going to the cross. Everything she did was in the shadow of the cross. I find absolutely perplexing that we find nowhere recorded in scripture of her trying to convince him to not go through with the cross in fact we find her at the foot of the cross watching as her son hangs and dies on the cross.
Mary said I am all in with God and she raised Jesus and gave her will over to God. As a parent am I all in for God. Or am I still holding on to the what I want and what I desire and what THE WORLD thinks is as important, or am I all in for God. as a parent who was all in for God she tried her very best to teach her son to be all in for God to.
3) We need to teach others to be all in for God.
Mary raised up her son in the Lord Luke 2:41-52 even before that we have his parents presenting Him to the Lord at the temple.
what do we find that His parents did every year. heading to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. They were exposing Him to God, you note this was a habit, a custom. It was who they were and what they did. It was not I’ll go when it convenient or when I have nothing going on. They were committed, dedicated, devoted to God and it was displayed and seen in their habits.
Notice Lk. 4:16
Luke 4:16 NASB95
And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.
it was his weekly custom, who instilled that custom in Him?
note v. 46-47 I think a lot of times when we look at this we think that somehow this was miraculous. but John 2:11 that the miracle of water to wine was his first, so I don’t think this was miraculous. could it be that his parents taught the scriptures to Him. That they sat around and talked about God’s Word. Could it be possible that they taught their children to be involved in the Lords work and his business and that is why jesus says in Lk. 2:49
Luke 2:49 NASB95
And He said to them, “Why is it that you were looking for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?
Jesus parents taught him to center his life around God. As we can see Mary was great Godly Parent. And we all can be too.
Like Mary we all need to see what God sees in us. each of us is important to God, each of us has value and each of us has an important Role to play in God’s Work and we must believe in ourselves because God believes in us.
like Mary we need to be all in for God, we need to give ourselves wholly to the Lord. we need to say tot he Lord that I am your bondservant and may it be done according to your word.
Like Mary we need to teach and and protect others from spiritual harm. We need to invest in others and raise them up and teach the in the Lord. Whether it be your physical children or children in the Lord.
What about you this morning what kind of parent (physical or spiritual) are you being? Do you see in yourself what God sees in you? You are are valuable, important to God, He believes in you and you should believe in yourself. Are you all in for God? Are fully submitting to his will or are you still walking your own path, living for self all alone and lost. Have you submitted your self in obedience to the Lord in regards to be saved on his terms B, C, R, B, F. Are living fully for God? Are you teaching others to be all in for God, through what you say and the life that you live. Are you setting the christ like example that you need to, if not then why not get you r life right to today with God. God wants you to come home to Him and he will wrap his arms around you and love on you and bless you, and we all will love one you help you in your walk with Christ. Please come while we stand and sing.
