Watchman Nee
Watchman Nee
How many of you have heard of Watchman Nee?
Watchman was a great christian leader and author of his time who really influenced China and his books are still touching the world.
Some of His well now books are The Spiritual Man, The Normal Christian life, Sit, Stand, Walk. and Spiritual Authority.
Watchman was born in 1903 in China to a nominal Christian Family. His parents marriage was a bitter one, so much mostly spent her time in social activity and events to make name for herself in the community.
She went to Church on Sunday but that was it she had no real relationship or belief in the things of God.
Moms salvation in a evangelistic meeting
She comes and ask her sons forgiveness
which was not a norm in that culture.
Watchman us to mock and make fun of people who wanted to go and study the bible or become ministers
Because his family went to church but their lives was not aligned to their confession or beliefs.
But when he noticed real change in his mothers character
This led him to give his life to Christ.
Watchman had a burning desire to share the good news to everyone in China, so made a decision to share the gospel with the one person everyday.
He became one of the great Christian leader, he suffered persecution and imprisonment but remained faithful.
One of the great influencer not only touched China but continue to touch the world through his books .
His mothers changed life changed him
Charles Spurgeon
Charles Spurgeon
Anyone here not heard of Charles Spurgeon.
He was a preacher from England and still know an prince of preachers.
He used to preach to 1000’s on Sunday services.
He was born in 1834 in England.
If a reader and been a Christian for a while you’ll at-least one book your library
I would read some of his quotes:
“ He says” when I am gone all sorts of people will write about my life, they’ll will have some difficulty in accounting for the Position God has given me. I can tell you tell you tow reasons why I am what I am.
My Mother
and truth of my massage
He doesn’t give credit to anyone else but these two things.
Here is another quote:
2. “No teaching have made greater impression on my mind as the instruction of my mothers.
3. Another Quote “ Never could it be possible for any man to estimate what he woes to a godly mothers.
His prayer life was influenced by his mothers.
Hudson Taylor
Hudson Taylor
Hudson Taylor was missionary from England to China.
He had a burning passion from a young age to be a missionary to China.
One day Hudson was home alone and those days you didn’t a TV or Radio so he picked a book and started reading. As he was reading eh book he came across a part which said “ Christ has finished it all”. He was convicted when he read that portion of the scripture.
But as he was reading the book at the same time his mother who was away was prompted to pray for him that night until she had an assurance in her heart that her son to know Him and after while she had that assurance.
Next day when she returned home she saw Hudson was still reading the same book. He was excited to see his mom and wanted to tell her about His salvation but she simply said I know.
This praying mother produced a great missionary that we still talk about.
Now look at a two examples from the bible:
when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.
2 Timothy was written by Paul the Apostle near the end of his life and its a personal letter that He wrote.
Here Paul was commending Timothy saying I am remembering of your genuine faith.
Paul met Timothy in Lystra on his second missionary journey. First time Paul was in this city he was almost stone to death, you can read about this in acts 14.
But on his second trip he met timothy.
Paul came also to Derbe and to Lystra. And a disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek, and he was well spoken of by the brethren who were in Lystra and Iconium. Paul wanted this man to go with him; and he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those parts, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
for Demas, having loved this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.
At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them.
For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well.
So Paul was commending Timothy for His genuine Faith in other words no pretend or hypocritical faith.
In Acts 16 we read that Timothy was son of a Jewish woman who was a believer, but his father was a Greek, and he was well spoken of by the brethren who were in Lystra and Iconium.
His father was a greek and was not a great influence in his faith journey.
You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Paul is saying what his grandmother and mother have been doing for him since his childhood , teaching scripture. So you can see how Loice and Eunice influenced Timothy by their Sincere faith.

All mothers we appreciate that you do and mostly not appreciated for you efforts and and taken for granted.
But you carry a power role to shape and empower your children to become all God has purposed for their lives.
Remember Eve one disobedience brought the whole humanity under a curse, sin and selfishness and made Cain to kill his own brother. But God gave a promise to her that her seed one day will crush the Satans head.
So the obedience of Mary, brought saviour Lord Jesus to the whole world, He didn’t come to take life, His selfless act of laying his life down redeemed the whole humanity.
