Romans 8:5–8 TPT
5 Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. 6 For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mindset controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace. 7 In fact, the mind-set focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to his direction, because it cannot! 8 For no matter how hard they try, God finds no pleasure with those who are controlled by the flesh.

Your relationship with The Holy Spirit is the most important relationship in your life!

In order for us to mature in the things of The Kingdom you must grow in your relationship with Holy Spirit. He is the one who brings us into the fullness of sonship.

The power to affect the natural realm in a supernatural way is found only in the Holy Spirit!

I had people tell me that I focus too much on the Holy Spirit and that we should not speak in tongues or have the gifts of the Spirit move on Sunday mornings because it is uncomfortable. Basically, you need to protect them form the Holy Spirit. My response: It is not my job to protect people from the Holy Spirit, its my job to introduce them to the Holy Spirit. Its not my job to protect them from the move of the Spirit, it is the mandate on my life to expose people to the move of the Spirit!
Don’t criticize or dismiss what you do not understand. If you do, you will miss out on the vast majority of what God has for you! Remember; What you honor will move toward you. What you dishonor (criticize) will move away from you! Instead, humble yourself and ask The Lord for the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to function in your life.
God is no respecter of persons, but He is a respecter of pursuit.
There is a vast difference between the reasoning and wisdom of man and the reasoning and wisdom of God! We have to stop reasoning in the natural concerning the things of the supernatural. The Spirit of God is not confined to nor will He be explained by our reasoning. He is God. He is supernatural. And we must view him as such!
The Holy Spirit is in you but He can come upon you. Some might say that doesn’t make sense. How can he be in me and upon me, but you’re thinking about it from a natural standpoint. As if he is finite, can only be in one place at one time. But he is supernatural and his ability defies natural reasoning.
Matthew 3:1–2 NKJV
1 In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, 2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”
Matthew 3:11–17 NKJV
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Jesus is the example of the work of the Holy Spirit within and upon. Jesus life was conceived by the spirit, and the spirit working within Him brought forth the fruit of good character.
The Spirit upon Jesus brought forth the ministry power needed for Kingdom advancement!

Being born again gives us entrance into the kingdom. Being baptized in the Holy Spirit is gives us power to demonstrate the kingdom.

It is important to distinguish between the new birth experienced and the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Why? Because if you do not know something is available how can you believe for it?
We can not try to explain away the things of the Bible that we do not understand or have not experienced. We must humble ourselves and seek God for the manifestation of what we see in the Bible. We have to bring our up to the standard of the Word and not bring the standard of the Word down to our experience.
Why is it that we can believe that we can be born again spiritually, our sins eradicated by the blood of a God who left heaven, was born of a virgin, died on the cross and was raised from the dead yet we cannot believe that he would give us a supernatural prayer language?
John 20:21–22 NKJV
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
Peace: ā-rā’-nā: means: exemption from the rage and havoc of war. Harmony.
“He breathed on them.... “Received the Holy Spirit.”
Gen 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.’
They were born again in that instant! This was their salvation experience. They became new creations!
Acts 1:4–8 NKJV
4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
It is not for you to know the times, but it is for you to be endued with POWER!
If we could advance The Kingdom of God without the power of the Holy Spirit then Jesus would not have told them to wait until they recieved that power!

The baptism in the Holy Spirit is not jus extremely important, it is absolutely necessary!

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is for power. Power to live our lives according to His will.
Witness; Myrter.
Power to demonstrate the Kingdom we have been place in.
Jesus commanded His disciples to wait until they were baptized/filled with the Holy Ghost before they could move forward with the mandate upon their lives.
Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit. Acts 10:38how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
The Greek word for POWER is du>namiv [dunamis], which means, “miracle working ability.”
The Baptism in the Holy Ghost endues the believer with God’s Power to produce evidence that Jesus Christ is alive.
MARK 16:17-18 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Acts 2 TPT On the day Pentecost was being fulfilled, all the disciples were gathered in one place. 2 Suddenly they heard the sound of a violent blast of wind rushing into the house from out of the heavenly realm. The roar of the wind was so overpowering it was all anyone could bear! 3 Then all at once a pillar of fire appeared before their eyes. It separated into tongues of fire that engulfed each one of them. 4 They were all filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit and were inspired to speak in tongues—empowered by the Spirit to speak in languages they had never learned!

They were commissioned in John 20, but they were empowered in Acts 2!

Acts 19:1–7 TPT
1 While Apollos was ministering in Corinth, Paul traveled on through the regions of Turkey until he arrived in Ephesus, where he found a group of twelve followers of Jesus. 2 The first thing he asked them was “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?” “No,” they replied. “We’ve not even heard of a holy spirit.” 3 Paul asked, “Then what was the meaning of your baptism?” They responded, “It meant that we would follow John’s teaching.” 4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was for those who were turning from their sins, and he taught you to believe in and follow the one who was coming after him: Jesus the Anointed One.” 5 When they understood this, they were baptized into the authority of Jesus, the Anointed One. 6 And when Paul laid his hands on each of the twelve, the Holy Spirit manifested and they immediately spoke in tongues and prophesied.
Where these men born again?
NKJV says, “…And finding some disciples…”. What makes a disciple?
Jesus said in John 8If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
TPT “When you continue to embrace all that I teach, you prove that you are my true followers. 32 For if you embrace the truth, it will release more freedom into your lives.2 The first thing he asked them was “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?”
What was the first thing Paul said? “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believer? This is important for 2 reasons;
1. He placing a priority on the baptism in the Holy Spirit and
2 He was making a distention between the two events!
“No,” they replied. “We’ve not even heard of a holy spirit.”
The revelation they had not received up to that point was keeping them from moving to another level in the things of God. What you don’t know will hinder you from walking in the fullness of what God has for your life!
3 Paul asked, “Then what was the meaning of your baptism?” They responded, “It meant that we would follow John’s teaching.”4 Paul said, “John’s baptism was for those who were turning from their sins, and he taught you to believe in and follow the one who was coming after him: Jesus the Anointed One.”
5 When they understood this, they were baptized into the authority of Jesus, the Anointed One. 6–7 And when Paul laid his hands on each of the twelve, the Holy Spirit manifested and they immediately spoke in tongues and prophesied.
Once they received and believed a fresh revelation, they were baptized in The Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues!

Should every believer Pray in the Spirit? YES!

When we pray in tongues we are cultivating intimacy with The Father.

1 Corinthians 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God… TPT 2 When someone speaks in tongues, no one understands a word he says, because he’s not speaking to people, but to Godhe is speaking intimate mysteries in the Spirit.

When we pray in tongues only God can understand what we are praying.

1 Corinthians 14:2 2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. If only God can understand it, that means the enemy can’t!

When we pray in tongues we build ourselves up.

1 Corinthians 14:4 (NKJV) 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself… TPT 4 The one who speaks in tongues advances his own spiritual progress…

When we pray in tongues we build our faith.

Jude 1:20 (NKJV) 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, TPT 20 But you, my delightfully loved friends, constantly and progressively build yourselves up on the foundation of your most holy faith by praying every moment in the Spirit. 2
Timothy 1: 4-6 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. 6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands.
TPT I’m filled with joy 5 as I think of your strong faith that was passed down through your family line. It began with your grandmother Lois, who passed it on to your dear mother, Eunice. And it’s clear that you too are following in the footsteps of their godly example. 6 I’m writing to encourage you to fan into a flame and rekindle[a] the fire of the spiritual gift God imparted to you when I laid my hands upon you.

When we pray in tongues we are praise and worshiping on a deeper level.

1 Corinthians 14:16-17 16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say "Amen" at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? 17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.

When we pray in tongues we are praying the perfect will of God.

Romans 8:26-27 26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
1 John 5:14-15 14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
This is HUGE! We pray His will and not our own.

It is God’s desire for all believers to speak in tongues!

Paul said, “I would that you all spoke with tongues” (1 Corinthians 14:5). It is clearly God’s will to give this gift to His people.
Do we have to tarry for the baptism in The Holy Spirit like in the book of Acts? NO! It is something you do (Acts 2:4).
On the Day of Pentecost “they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and (they) began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
The Holy Spirit didn’t speak through them, He merely gave them the utterance or prompted their speech, but they were the ones who spoke. It is a supernatural utterance not a possession! Paul said I WILL pray in the spirit…. I WILL sing in the spirit…
It is received by faith. Everything we get from God is received by faith. Every thing in the Kingdom is appropriated BY FAITH!
Faith is expressed in actions (Mark 2:5, James 2:17, Hebrews 4:2).
Mark 11: 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
TPT 22 Jesus replied, “Let the faith of God be in you! 23 Listen to the truth I speak to you: If someone says to this mountain with great faith and having no doubt, ‘Mountain, be lifted up and thrown into the midst of the sea,’and believes that what he says will happen, it will be done. 24 This is the reason I urge you to boldly believe for whatever you ask for in prayer—believe that you have received it and it will be yours.
My personal experience.
My intellect and analytical processing hindered me from receiving.
I believed that the baptism in The Holy Spirit was for every believer and that every believer could receive a prayer language, but I was confused on how it would take place. I thought the Holy Spirit would take over and do everything.
Once I received the revelation that He would do His part, but I would have to do my part, I was able to receive what I was desiring.
