· 10 viewsThe support of a Spirit-led community. If we are truly going to serve one another in love (5:13) and follow the leading of the Spirit (5:18), we are going to have to come alongside erring members of our congregation and restore them to spiritual wholeness.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Jesus Christ, the Christ-man, is the supreme burden bearer. And if we truly remember the crucified Christ—His humility, His sacrifice, His suffering, His love—we won’t be able to entertain high thoughts of ourselves. We’ll quickly realize that “none is righteous, no, not one” (Rom. 3:10).
Contemplating the full scope of our Savior’s ministry thus has a remarkable way of subduing, if not eradicating, conceit from our hearts.
