Where ever we are we start thinking about whats next.

I have trouble enjoying myself because I am hardly in the moment.

I constantly planing and planning for whats next

This is a how to series....
How to prepare to get to where you want to get from where you currently are that you just got to from where you recently were.

Moving on, How to prepare for what’s next.

graduation
wedding
baby
new job
retirement

Next, Transition, Change, Stress

Are there things we can do now to prepare for whats next?

2 things to consider

1. Along with everything else you pack for whats next…you pack you.

Where ever you go, there you are.

2. There is no necessary correlation between knowing whats next and being prepared for whats next.

We fool ourselves in to thinking that once we get more money, older, married, schooled or move to a new place we will be different or better or know better.

H3 shoelaces example

Preparation for whats next beats a plan and beats a promise every single time.

James 1:25 NLT
But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.
James 1:22 NIV
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
James 1:23 NLT
For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror.
James 1:24 NLT
You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.

A mirror requires a response

I know how long each of you stand in front of the mirror…until it gets better

No one gets credit for looking in the mirror

Seeing something but not doing something.

Seeing something but doing nothing.

James 1:25 NIV
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

Give, Save, Live - Live, Save, Give

This leads to financial freed
We are called to be generous because generosity helps others

Forgiveness

Forgiveness only helps you when you do it not when you know about it

Sexual Purity

purity is for the benefit of others

Sexual purity paves the way to intimacy

Exclusivity leads to romance, not experience

The seasons of life are connected

James 1:25 NIV
But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

James is not saying the thing will be blessed but that YOU will be blessed

Blessed, Happy, Full-filled, Satisfied

The Habit of doing will make you happy

Being a doer now is preparation for being a doer later

My greatest regrets in life are all tied to hearing and not doing.

Somebody tried to tell you and you didn’t want to hear it so you would have to do it.

If you are not doing now, you probably won’t do later.

Matthew 7:24 NIV
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
Matthew 7:25 NLT
Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock.

The way we lay a solid foundation in life, is by being a doer not just a hearer

If we are a doer now, we will be doing later

What are you doing now that you tell yourself, “I won’t do that later”?

What do you need to be doing now that you tell yourself, “I’ll start later when...”?

James says we are deceiving ourselves

Jesus says that area of our lives will come tumbling down.

Doing not hearing makes the difference.

What do you need to do?
