Big Decision

Intro: Joshua just spent the last verse giving the Israelite a History lesson about where they came from. And Now He wants the to make a decision. So the Question is are you here to make a decision?

I. To Fear and Serve V. 14

A. Fear Him Understanding who he is and what he can do, but what he has done for us. Fear has a constructive role to play in enabling men to realize both the degeneracy of their souls and their need of divine forgiveness.

Do we Fear him to the point we don't want to disappoint him, have we even got to this level.

Do we Fear him in fear of punishment for doing the wrong thing or does it ever cross or minds?

B. Serve Him - To want to do the things God asks us to do , With out question

With Sincerity and truth- With being sincere honesty of mind pure of heart to do it with love.

Do we serve with honesty and truth

Do we serve because we want to please him?

II. Put away the gods of your fathers. V14

A. Put away the gods of your fathers- put away the things that are meant to separate you from God.

what would keep you from serving God with the new opportunities that come your way.

The things in the past will not work in the future.

B Serve the Lord! There it is again there is a significance to being repeated.

III. Choose this day whom you will serve!vs. 15

A. Serve the Lord- 3x it has been repeated, but then goes to say Choose whom you will serve.

Is it evil to serve God

If not God then who

Its a long list of things to serve

Why do we have to choose

If we don’t choose is it still a choice?

B. There are choice to be made avoiding them doesn't make you an adult.

There are choices that have to be made, because that's what adulting is all about.

the choices we make we have to live with them and suffer the consequences

IV. The choice to be made

A. We choose God to serve what about you?

God is the right choice the only choice you know won’t let you down.

the choice you know He will provide

The choice you know he will never let you down!

The choice to Serve him and Fear Him, but not fear out of being terrified, but to serve with Spirit and with truth, Because he is GOD

The alpha and the omega the beginning and the end

there is no one higher and no one more reliable. to hand any problem we have.

Conclusion: When it is time to make a choice as the Israelites where given a challenge to make a choice and to own up to the choice. As Seniors you are now task with making a choice that good and probably will change your life forever.

Why not Choice God because he is always on the winning side. So Choose the winning side.
