Take off wedding ring
- The custom of giving a wedding ring dates back to the ancient Romans.
- Since the ring is a circle, it represents eternity.
- no beginning and
- no end.
- It symbolized that the husband and wife are united forever.
- The circle of God's love stretches to all eternity.
- It will never end.
- His promise is eternal.
First, Jesus came in love.
First, Jesus came in love.
Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
- Jesus was born to "save his people from their sins"
- He did not come to be a....
- good example or....
- perform miracles.
- He came to die for us!!
- He left His perfect home in Heaven and
- He left His Father.
- All to come to a sin-filled world.
- He left all of the wonders of Heaven for me and you.
Next, He walked in love.
Next, He walked in love.
Matthew 22:37–39 --- 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
- First He taught that we should love God
- Second He taught we should love others!
- But He didn't just teach it;
- He also demonstrated it. (lived it)
- His love was always demonstrated to others.
- He didn't just have a “feeling” called love....
- He put His love into action.
- If someone asks us how we know that Christ loves us....
- our first answer should because He died for us.
Have student read Philippians 2:8
Philippians 2:8 --- 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
- He willingly gave up His life!!
- He could have called ten thousand angels to set Him free...
- but He didn't....
- because of love.
- His love for us!
Last, Christ will return because of His love.
Last, Christ will return because of His love.
John 14:3 says:
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
- This is His promise that He is coming back for us!
- Jesus wants us to be in heaven with Him...
- In the place that He is preparing for us right now.
- Christ has loved us for all eternity....
- and He has proven it through...
- His life on earth and in Heaven.
- Now we are to love Him as much as we possibly can.
- How can we not?
- Our verse tells us.....
- to love Him with all of...
- our heart, soul, and might.
- The next verses show us that this love will consume us.
- We will be overwhelmed with what God has done for us!
- When we truly love Him,
- we are ready..
- to serve Him
- to suffer
- to lead others to Him
- and to give.
- We will want to do all we can for Him!
