Who is He?

Jesus in the book of John promised His disciples that He would send a Helper; the question is why did His disciples need a helper. One commentator wrote In the face of the opposition and hatred of the world a believer might be tempted to try to escape from the world or to be silent in it. Monasticism, extreme separation, and lack of witnessing have been too common in the church’s history. Jesus encouraged His disciples by the promise of the Spirit’s work in the world.

Christ having spoken of the great opposition which his gospel was likely to meet with in the world, and the hardships that would be put upon the preachers of it, lest any should fear that they and it would be run down by that violent torrent, he here intimates to all those that were well-wishers to his cause and interest what effectual provision was made for supporting it, both by the principal testimony of the Spirit (v. 26), and the subordinate testimony of the apostles (v. 27), and testimonies are the proper supports of truth

The Holy Spirit is an Eschatological phenomenon
The Holy Spirit Presence in the world ( down payment) is the gaurantee that Gods second coming is not optional.
Ephesians 1:14 (CEB)” The Holy Spirit is the down payment on our inheritance, which is applied toward our redemption as God’s own people, resulting in the honor of God’s glory.”
Lexham Survey of Theology God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Triune God and, as such, is fully God and fully personal.

We are still trying to find out who the Holy Spirit is; There are numerous texts in the New Testament as well as adumbrations (Prefigurations, predictions, or prophecies) in the Old Testament that speak implicitly of his deity and his doing only what God can do.
there has much debate even in the Seventh-day Adventist world over the personality of the Holy Spirit, however let it be know that the Holy Spirit is God.Job 11:(KJV)
7 Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?8 It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?9 The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
No! we can’t by searching find out God, now that doesn’t mean that we should not search for the Word of God said Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. We should spent quality and quantity time seeking God and we must do so with our whole heart, it can’t be a half-hearted search, it can’t be sceptical search, it even be a scientific search because God cannot be place in a test tube our God is bigger than the universe. it must however be a good search, Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Take time out to search for God with your whole He will reveal Himself to you, and the Bible tells me that in His pressence there is fulness of joy

What is His Role

What the Holy Spirit function in the world? The Spirit enables men and women to confess the true identity of Christ and worship him (1 Cor 12:3; Phil 3:3; Eph 2:18); he is the source of spiritual life (Gal 5:25; 6:8; Eph 1:13–14); he gives believers insight into divine mysteries, since he plumbs the depths of God (1 Cor 2:10); he gloriously transforms believers into the image of Christ and makes them the temple of God (2 Cor 3:18; 1 Cor 3:16). He is also described as eternal (Heb 9:14) and omnipresent (Ps 139:7); he is implicitly given the epithet “God” (Acts 5:3–4); and he is called by the divine title of “Lord” (2 Cor 3:17).
What else does the Holy Spirit do? 1.Exalts the Name of Christ
2.Exalts and fulfill the prophecies of Christ
3.Exalts and empowers the followers of Christ
4.Exalts the Word of Christ
5.Exalts the redemptive agenda of Christ
Guides the evangelistic efforts of the church of Christ.
He seals the servants of Christ
Lexham Survey of Theology God the Holy Spirit

As a person, he can be grieved and lied unto (Isa 63:10; Eph 4:30; Acts 5:3–4); he leads believers (Gal 5:17); he enables prayer (Jude 20; Eph 6:18); he even prays (Rom 8:26–27).

Why is the Holy Spirit sent to be with us?

13 “But when He, athe Spirit of truth, comes, He will bguide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

14 “He will aglorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

That is why Jesus told His disciples that He had to go away; 7 “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the 1aHelper will not come to you; but if I go, bI will send Him to you.
8 “And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;
9 concerning sin, abecause they do not believe in Me;
10 and concerning arighteousness, because bI go to the Father and you no longer see Me;
11 and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged. New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Jn 16:7–11.
1. The holy spirit Exalts the name of Jesus:
Acts 4:12 ►Neither is theresalvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
John 12: 32: “and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”
2. The holy spirit Exalts the word of Jesus (the bible)
John 1:
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory,
3. The holy spirit exalts and fulfills the prophecies of Christ:
Matthew 16:18
And I tell you that… on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.
4. The holy spirit Empowers the followers of Christ
1 Corinthians 12:(NIV)
7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[a] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[b] 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
5. The holy spirit exalts the redemptive agenda of Christ:
1.Daniel 8: 14
2.Revelation 1:1
3.Revelation 12: 17
4.Revelation 14: 6-12
5.Revelation 19:10
What can we learn from the holy spirit as disciples of Jesus?
John 15:26-27(NIV)
26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.27 And you also must testify (of me)….
Our purpose in life is to exalt Jesus
Galatians 6:14(NIV)
May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which[a] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world
CLOSING: our first work
“A revival of true godliness among us is the greatest and most urgent of all our needs. To seek this should be our first work.
There must be earnest effort to obtain the blessing of the Lord, not because God is not willing to bestow His blessing upon us, but because we are unprepared to receive it.
Our heavenly Father is more willing to give His Holy Spirit to them that ask Him, than are earthly parents to give good gifts to their children.
But it is our work, by confession, humiliation, repentance, and earnest prayer, to fulfill the conditions upon which God has promised to grant us His blessing.
A revival need be expected only in answer to prayer.”
Only Prayer brings the holy spirit
The Holy Spirit brings the word
Then we (the members) bring obedience
And obedience provides power:
Love and Joy
Peace and Patience
Faith, humility and goodness
against which there is no condemnation: Gal: 5: 22.
