The Blessings of a Godly Man
The Blessings of a Godly Man
A Song of Ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is your keeper;
the Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.
God is eternal. Vs. 1-2
Looking up, we find nothing of man’s, it is all of God up above.
We see a contrast between mountains and God. We look and see the mountains and are reminded of god’s eternal presence.
2. God is present. Vs. 3-4
The picture of hiking or mountain climbing is spoken here. God is present at all times. He will sustain us.
3. God is able. Vs. 5-8
We find great solace in knowing:
1. The Lord’s presence and protection in the past.
2. The Lord’s presence and protection in difficult times.
3. The Lord’s presence and protection for eternity.
Where do we find ourselves in this journey? Are we living in the peace of knowing God personally?
