(WOW) You look amazing!
Welcome to the wedding of Josh and Josie-
You May be seated.
Let us Pray- Lord thank you for this great day that we get to celebrate an amazing couple. I pray that today would be the start of a great marriage .
-Story about Josie
When I came to First Baptist Paris, Josie was in Jr. High. It did not take me long to realize she was the kind of student that a youth pastor gets excited about.
You were and are beautiful inside and out, you are gifted in so many different areas whether sports, singing. But as I reflect on our time together in Paris what was greatest was seeing even at a young age how you wanted to walk with God. I literally got to be a part of your parents faith becoming your faith.
I remember our famous trip to Florida where you said during your youth that it was maybe the most life changing experience you had with God. We actually went onto the beach in Panama City and shared the good news of Christ with complete strangers, we had a ton of fun.
It was so beautiful to watch you lead worship with our youth and sometimes in the main service.
One of my prayers and what I challenged you with since the day I met you is that you would not settle but find and wait for a Godly husband who would run after Jesus with you.
Josie great job on not settling.
Hasn’t God been good in providing you Josh.
The Lord has provided for you a husband someone who will protect, provide and lead you in the word.
While you were waiting God was at work.
Story about Josh-
Jeff and Kelly are literally lifelong friends of me, I know them personally, Great job.
John and Jodie- Brandon,. Dad is the greatest example I have ever seen of what it looks like to follow God.
Favorite characteristics: Most selfless person he ever met, so incredibly loyal, so thoughtful. The kindest heart and soul that I have ever known. So true to himself and does not compromise his beliefs.
God’s hand how he got you to DBU, bad tryout at Midwestern, lets spend the weekend in Dallas, and he ended up at DBU. God was working the story. Sent videos to every college for tennis.

Who knew Corona Virus could help you get married.
Josie going back to Paris because of Corona, literally almost back to Paris, Josh messaged her and they started talking on instagram, first date was at Cane’s. After a week drove all the way to Abileen to meet the family.
COVID sped up their relationship, spent so much time, with each other and their families. We have both had a peace about it.
You story reminds me of one of my favorite illustrations: ILLUSTRATION OF RUNNING A RACE AND MARRYING A PERSON WHO IS RUNNING NEXT TO YOU. I am so excited to see the race you and Robbie will get to run together. Best friends, Josh liked Josie.
They met when they were not expecting to meet, but they were running the same way.
I want to share a personal encouragement as you grow your marriage continue to run this race together. This was Heather and I’s vision for our marriage and it is something that we have to continue to fight for. Life will get busier, you will have jobs, kids a lot of things pulling for your attention.
Continue to run after Jesus while you pursue each other.
Let’s look at what God says about marriage!
Marriage has always been God’s plan from the beginning.
When man was alone God created his helper, HELP MATE, and it says the two literally became one flesh.
For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
The most talked about marriage verse in the Bible comes from Ephesians.
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
To Josie-God is calling you to submit to Josh. How do you do this by respecting him.
You are not submit to Josh because he is a awesome guy, which he is, you are to submit to him because you have submitted to the Lord.
The Bible Knowledge Commentary 5:22–24
As to the Lord does not mean that a wife is to submit to her husband in the same way she submits to the Lord, but rather that her submission to her husband is her service rendered “to the Lord” (cf. Col. 3:18).
Because you submit to the Lord you will submit your life to Josh.
Their is power in submission many think of submission as a weak thing but their is great strength in submission. Jesus submitted to the father when he said not my will but your will be done.
Now submission is not silence
How can you submit to Josh
Walk with Jesus
Be honest with Josh, tell him how you really feel.
Trust him.
Paul then tells us why wives submit
For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body.
But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
Josh then the word of God tells you how to love Josie
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her,
Josh, this is your great calling in your home to lay down your life for your wife. Paul gives 9 verses on the role of the husband and 3 verses on the role of the wife.
Josh this verse is impossible to live out without God’s daily guidance and grace so you have to walk with God daily. The only reason you will be able to live this out is because God laid his life for you.
You will lay your life down daily by
Pastoring Josie
Providing for Josie
Protecting her
so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;
for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church,
because we are members of His body.
Here is my challenge to both of you to enjoy each other
For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church.
Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.
So in summary:
Run after Jesus together
Josie submit and Respect Josh
Josh Lay your life down for Josie
I cannot wait to see how God uses this marriage for his honor and glory. to impact not only this generation but many more.
Gospel
Josh at 8 dad helped lead him to Christ, through the help of his family and pastor, simple childlike faith.
Here is what I know about Josh and Josie, as excited as they are about this marriage, which you can just look at them, their greatest joy is their relationship with Jesus Christ. They both have a real vibrant relationship with the God of this universe.
The gospel tells us that man is sinful and therefore disconnected from their creator. Instead of man being one with his creator. He is disconnected from his creator destined for hell. That is bad news. But. Whenever you see this word in the Bible you need to pay close attention. While we were still sinners God demonstrated his love by dying for us. But unlike most people who stay in the ground Jesus rose from the grave and is still alive today. And as a result we have two options: 1) we can reject his gift or 2) we can accept his gift by believing that it is true: whoever believes in Jesus Christ for salvation, will be saved. God and man who were too now become one.
Josie accepted Gods gift at a young age.
Josh accepted Gods gift when he was

Pray
Vows
Josie,
From the day I first met you in March of 2020, I knew this relationship was different. Over the past 13 months, you have loved me in a way that I have never in my life experienced. You have been so incredibly kind and genuine in the way you pursue me, and your steadfast love for me can only be explained by the Lord’s grace and love for you. I have been so incredibly blessed to know you, to be with you, and to love you over the past year. You make life so much fun, and I have never in my life been more confident in who you are and who the Lord has lead me to. On April 4 of 2020, two days after we first started dating, I felt convicted to stop on the side of the road, thank the Lord for who you are, and write down in my notes exactly what you mean to me. While I won’t read the whole thing, I wanted to share a little bit of that note, which again was written just two days after we first started dating. “Josh, Josie will always be the girl you’ve been waiting and praying for. Her constant love for the Lord is beyond admirable, and she pushes you in your walk with God. You are extremely blessed to know Josie and to love her. She is beautiful, loving, and incredibly generous and kind. Love her forever, Josh. And when the time comes, marry her. P.S. - I can’t wait to see how beautiful you are in your wedding dress.” Josie, from this day forward, I vow to be protect you and to cherish you. I vow to fight for you, to lead you, and to love you each and every day for the rest of our lives. You are my best friend, my person, and the love of my life. I love you.
Josh,
I think I knew you all of two seconds before I realized I didn’t want there to be another day I spent with out you. When I look at you I see a reflection of God’s goodness. Without a doubt, I know He is the reason we are standing here today. I am so confident that our relationship is so much bigger than just two people who fell in love.
My life is so much brighter because of you. You’re the sweetest gift I’ve ever received. Thank you for always making me feel so safe, so secure, and so incredibly loved. Thank you for always seeing what I can’t see in myself. Thank you for always reminding me who I am & Who’s I am. Thank you for loving me in a way I never thought possible. It just simply can’t be put into words how thankful I am to be loved by you. You are my best friend, my person, and the love of my life. & I’m SO excited to watch the beautiful story God has written for our lives unfold.
Josh Williams, I vow to spend every season of our lives pursuing you , loving you, serving you, & fighting for you. And ultimately, I promise to be by your side until we are made whole again in Jesus. I CAN’T WAIT FOR ALL THE CRAZY BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES TO COME!
