The Expectation..
The Expectation..
I want to talk with you today about the benefits of serving the Lord. As I reflect on this past year with all of the disappointments, sadness and strife , there are moments that I don’t see the way out; the light at the end of the tunnel; the small glimpse of hope. As I continue to reflect I hear the Holy Spirit encouraging to me to look around and see God in all of this. Observe his work and his mighty hand in the universe. Then and only then do I recognize just how blessed, cared for, adored and loved I am by my Heavenly Father.
Ps 103 verses 1 and 2 state:
Bless the Lord, O my soul:
And all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all his benefits:
Just a little history, this particular psalm is written by King David however, there are many authors believed to have also added to this hymnbook we call the book of Psalms
What are the benefits? What benefits was David speaking of? David had ups and downs, he was envied, had spears thrown at him, he had to hide, be encouraged by his men and himself, he had short comings, but he knew how to petition his father.
And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.
