This past week?
As we close up 2 Peter-
What did you guys talk about last week?
Up to this point, What is something you have learned from 2 Peter?
Who has household chores? What?
Why are chores important?
We are going to do a quick little activity......
Cleaning Analogy
Read 2 Peter 3:14-18
So, Peter is bringing this to a close...
And what is the first thing he wants to remind us about?
19 but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
Where else do we see this? Anyone know?
Paul talks about it in -
15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
Why does he want us to be blameless and pure?
Then Peter goes in reminding us that Paul talked about this in his letters. And reminds us that while we are waiting on the Lord to return, it is an opportunity for people to be saved.
BUT......how are they saved? What needs to happen?
And so, he says Paul is talking about these things but what happens when wisdom fails, when the unwise get a hold of these truths? What do they do?
Anyone ever not know the answer to something, so you just made an answer up? Example?
That’s what Peter is getting at because as he goes on, “He’s like since you know this, be ready, be on your guard.”
What should we be ready ready and on guard for though?
What would be an current specific example of lawless people trying to lead stable(Christians) a stray?
Peter ends with this saying to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord?
What is he telling us here?
Why?
Does anyone know the main point that Peter is driving towards in the book of 2 Peter?

14 Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. 15 And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
What are ways we can avoid being found with “spot or blemish”?
How do we grow in grace and knowledge? What steps do you need to make to be doing that?
Would you say you are on guard and ready?
