Listen Up!

Listening to the Voice of God!

What is the point of this verse?

We could outline it this way!

Jesus is saying

I. Sit up!

Sit up and listen the me while i’m talking to you

II. Shut up!

We can’t listen to God when we are constantly telling God what we think He needs to hear.

III. Suit up!

Once we hear from God then it’s time to act upon His directing.

How are we to listen ?

most everyone are born with ears

IS he talking just people without a deformity?

Is He talking to everyone that is not deaf?

YES and No and YES and NO

This is not a physical ability to hear and listen but a Spiritual one.

Who is supposed to be listening here?

Those that are the Called according to His Purpose.

We would term them today as the Saved.

Saved people have the Holy Spirit living inside of them that gives the ability to discern things that can in no other way be deciphered.

They have ears to hear

This is an enabling of the Spirit

Let him hear - LISTEN

So for Spirit enabled hearers -

Why is Listening to important?

Because Someone that Knows it all is only covering for the fact that they really know nothing at all.

So Why is listening so important?

Because Listening convicts our Heart

Because Listening Controls our Hunger

Because Listening Corrects our Hankering

Because Listening Clears the way for the Holy Spirit to Teach

What does listening do?

The Priority in the Story. v.4

The Power behind the Story. v.5

3. It Expands

The Perspective for the Story. v.6

4. It Exalts

The Person of the Story. v.8-15
