Intro

Hello again church
Honored to be able to return
Robert Marks, FBC Durango
Seminary Student
Memorial day is tomorrow
Son of a USAF fighter pilot
Great uncle is a purple heart recipient
They have both experience loss
There are some of you who have probably experienced loss of a friend or family member who served their country
As we will see in the passage, the church is to be united, so we mourn with you as we remember those who gave so much
As we remember those who made such a sacrifice, we must look forward to the hope that Christ will return one day to make everything right. This is the same hope that the apostles and Christians, our family, had in the Acts 2
Let’s Pray

Prayer

(Uh write this down later when you’re feeling more inspired

Acts 2

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

Devoted

We must remember the context of what’s going on here
Christ was killed, buried raise to life, then was with the disciples for 40 days
10 days after that Jesus sends the promised helper

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

They’re all filled with the holy spirit
THey’re all united in Christ
Peter gives the first sermon in all the church
Repent!
God blesses their faith
They go from the small band of disciples to 3000
This is because they are devoted
