An analogy between adulterous Israel and the church

Notes
Transcript

Introduction

This may be one of my favorite analogies used throughout the bible
We will dive into all of that in a minute, but first we need to establish some context
So let’s dive right into it

Body

Context

Hosea is the only prophet born and raised in Israel that ended up ministering to Israel
There was a lot going on with the northern kingdom of Israel
this is post Solomon, during the divided monarchy
one of the most wicked pairs of monarchs was in the northern kingdom, Ahab and Jezebel
Baal worship was crazy in the nothern kingdom of Israel
This is seen in the time of Elijah, his challenge and victory over the prophets of Baal was in the the kingdom of Israel
There are also a few other things that Hosea mentions as well, but regardless the whole point of his book is the idea of an unfaithful Israel being connected to a faithful God
One major way he presented this was through his life and whom he married
Which is what we are going to be mainly talking about today

Hosea’s call

Hosea recieved a rather interesting call
