1 Samuel 30:1–8 CSB
1 David and his men arrived in Ziklag on the third day. The Amalekites had raided the Negev and attacked and burned Ziklag. 2 They also had kidnapped the women and everyone in it from youngest to oldest. They had killed no one but had carried them off as they went on their way. 3 When David and his men arrived at the town, they found it burned. Their wives, sons, and daughters had been kidnapped. 4 David and the troops with him wept loudly until they had no strength left to weep. 5 David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelite and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had also been kidnapped. 6 David was in an extremely difficult position because the troops talked about stoning him, for they were all very bitter over the loss of their sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God. 7 David said to the priest Abiathar son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.” So Abiathar brought it to him, 8 and David asked the Lord, “Should I pursue these raiders? Will I overtake them?” The Lord replied to him, “Pursue them, for you will certainly overtake them and rescue the people.”

1. Not all trouble is your fault

Jesus said that in this world you would have trouble
Sometimes you are mining your own business and trouble comes
Sometimes you are about the Father’s Business and trouble comes
David and his men were working, while they were working the enemy came and stole their stuff
We are not exempt from trouble
Why is this happening to me, if God loves me?
Trouble is not a sign that God doesn’t love you
Why am I stuck in this struggle if God cares?
Struggles are not a sign that God doesn’t care
Why do bad things happen to good people?
Stay the course, God is still in control
Everything is God-allowed or God-ordained
Whatever happens it will work out for your good

2. Recognize that trouble is temporary

If you are going through hell, don’t stop, keep moving
Don’t make permanent decisions out of temporary situations
Your trouble may seem like it is forever, but it is temporary
The last trouble you had you survived
You thought you weren’t going to make it, but you fell asleep and you woke up
In this world you will have trouble, don’t give you
You are an overcomer
This too shall pass
The pandemic wasn’t forever, some want it to be forever but people are still alive
Trouble just wants your peace
Trouble wants your joy
Trouble wants your security
Trouble wants you crying
Submit to God in the midst of trouble

3. Stop crying and start inquiring of the Lord

David and his men cried all their tears out
After crying, they wanted to kill David
When you cry, you want someone to blame
Usually, the leader gets the blame
Instead of blaming, inquire
David went to God and asked if he should get in this fight
Go to God, He knows all things
Quit the infighting, Go to God
Quit the blaming, Go to God
Psalm 118:5–6 CSB
5 I called to the Lord in distress; the Lord answered me and put me in a spacious place. 6 The Lord is for me; I will not be afraid. What can a mere mortal do to me?
In your distress call on the Lord
If you confess the Lord, call Him Up
His line is never busy
He is for you
He will never leave you nor forsake you
Don’t be afraid, He’s got you

4. God’s got your back to get it back

You are never alone
Deuteronomy 20:1 CSB
1 “When you go out to war against your enemies and see horses, chariots, and an army larger than yours, do not be afraid of them, for the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, is with you.
Don’t let your eyes deceive you
The battle is not your
Its not by might or strength but by His Spirit
Put your Hope in God
Faith in God is always available
Faith in God can get you out of any jail the enemy makes
God’s got your back—Get It Back
No weapon formed against me will prosper
There are weapons formed against you but they will not prosper
God made the silversmith that created the weapon
God breathed life into the lives of your haters
God allowed that heartache to take place
God allowed you to lose everything
God’s got your back to get it back

5. Time to get what was stolen back

The enemy came and stole your joy, peace, hope, and your security
We used to walk in victory
When did the enemy steal your stuff?
You’ve lost long enough
