God’s Word is Truth

As we just read verse 5
Proverbs 3:5 ESV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In our times there is so much information coming at us from every direction. Some of that information is good and useful but unfortunately most of it is not.
We live in an age where most people have the mindset that as long as what someone else does doesn’t effect me than I don’t care.
This attitude comes from selfishness and a lack of caring about morals or the general well being of other people. Society and the media will tell you that it gives freedom for each person to do what is right in their own eyes. However, this is a lie from the devil himself.
You see the original sin was mankind doing what was right in their eyes instead of doing what God told them to do.
The devil deceived them into thinking that they would be free and powerful like God if they made their own choices based on their feelings rather than submitting to the will of God in their lives.
We can see the same thing today and this is a terribly damaging mindset.
While there are several reasons for this one of the most significant ones is that of confusion and confusion is most certainly not godly in any way.
1 Corinthians 14:33 NLT
33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people.
You see if everyone does whatever they feel in the moment and nothing is wrong then there is no moral standard or really any standard for people’s lives.
In addition to a significantly decreased quality of life and increase of social dysfunction confusion also makes people question God’s word and God’s ways.
Instead of trusting that there is in fact a loving God who makes mankind in His image and has a plan and purpose for the lives of everyone many people will instead turn to all sorts of manmade fictitious ideologies.
Myths like the theory of evolution which has never been proven anywhere ever. The lie that success or money or drugs or alcohol or social acceptance will somehow fulfill the void left behind from not having a right relationship with their creator is just plain nonsense.
My point here is simple. The Bible is the living literal word of God. It tells us that God loves us that God made mankind in His image. It tells us that all people have sinned at one point or another and that God loves mankind so much that He personally paid the price for our sins through Jesus Christ who is in fact God the Son. And as if that was not enough Jesus asked God the Father and He gave us God the Holy Spirit to live inside of us so that we may live a life pleasing to Him, so that we may full understand the His holy word which is the Bible, and so we can have the power and compassion to serve our fellow humans who are lost without the knowledge or blessing of Jesus Christ out Lord.
The devil does not want you to know God’s word because when you know God’s word and have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ you will finally have life and not death and therefore you can no longer be controlled by the lies of the enemy.
Said simply and plainly do not trust your own thoughts or the logic of the world but rather meditate on God’s word and trust the truth contained in it.

Give God the Glory and He will Guide Your Paths

Proverbs 3:6 ESV
6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
As you grow in your relationship with the Lord and meditate on His word you will be blessed which is fantastic.
However, it critically important to always give all praise and glory to God. Without Jesus the blessing would not happen and we need to remain grateful.
If your life takes a positive turn upward and people comment on the change instead of saying well I started doing this or I do that simply tell the truth which is that I started spending time with Jesus and He is blessing me and He can bless you too if you put your trust in Him.
Nothing is more powerful in sharing the Gospel and the word of God than a personal testimony or eyewitness account of the power of the Lord. In fact my feeling is that the true test of effective ministry is two-fold leading people to salvation and seeing change in people lives.
When you give God all the glory not only is it the right thing to do but also He will continue to guide you with wisdom, knowledge and power to have peace and victory in all circumstances. Amen.

Fear the Lord and Turn from Evil

Verse 7 teaches us to
Proverbs 3:7 ESV
7 Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
From early on in life most people have seen things we should not have seen or heard things which we should not have heard.
For some the content could have came from movies, music or television.
But for many other people the ways of the world and sin were introduced through neighbors, friends or family.
I speak to people all the time that will make their own version of who or what God is.
Nowadays we hear people that won’t even acknowledge God but instead use terms like the universe or science.
These comments stem from a lack of fear of the Lord.
While yes its true the Bible teaches us that God is love and He is to understand the Lord a person must understand that God is not one dimensional. What I am saying is that God is love but God is also mercy and grace and yes righteous as well.
And as a Holy and righteous God, the Lord will not leave sin unpunished.
Some people ask the question why does a loving God send people to hell but the truth is that God does not intend hell for mankind. It was made for the devil and his demons who rebelled against the Lord and were cast out of heaven.
Revelation 12:7–12 ESV
7 Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8 but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. 11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. 12 Therefore, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”
You see the devil is always trying to deceive people to rebel against God.
Satan will put thoughts or feelings into people’s minds and hearts which they then meditate on and in moments of weakness people sin. Then the enemy will accuse you as unrighteous before the Lord and before yourself.
But hear me today every moment is a choice on whether to listen to the lies of the devil or to reject his lies and turn to the truth of Jesus Christ.
There is in fact a judgment coming to the world for sin and rejection of God. The devil and all who reject the Lord will be held accountable.
However, the Lord loves mankind so much that He makes a way for unrighteous people to be made righteous again put putting their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
This free gift of grace is available to all people from all socioeconomic backgrounds and it is the desire of the Lord that all people be saved.
So no matter what you have been through or where you are in your relationship with Jesus today there is hope for a better tomorrow if you put your faith and trust in Him to be the Lord of your life.

God’s Word Brings Healing and Peace

Proverbs 3:8 ESV
8 It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.
This is a conditional promise that if we trust in the Lord and not ourselves and if we walk in His ways that He will in fact heal us, refresh us and give us peace.
There are so many people today desperate to find peace. They look for it in many people places and things but true peace and healing only comes from a right relationship with Jesus Christ.
John 14:27 ESV
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Jesus is telling us that when we trust Him that He will give us peace.
You see this world does not have power over us because as Christians when our eyes close in this life they open in an eternal paradise with Jesus.
Knowing that you are loved and that there is hope for a blessed eternity gives us the strength and peace to weather every storm life throws our way.
I don’t know what you are dealing with today but what I do know is that Jesus loves you. I know that He paid the price for your sins on Cavalry’s cross. I know that your life is not a mistake but that you were handcrafted by God with a plan and purpose on your life that you may know Him and be loved by Him and help others to share the hope that you have found in Jesus Christ.
So if you are tired today and you want peace trust Jesus and begin the journey to the best future you could hope for.
If you have given your heart to the Lord then come to the well and be rejuvenated with the living water of the word of God.
God’s word will in fact not only change your mind but it will heal you and through your faith in Christ give you peace.
Closing
In closing please remember it is critical for us as Christians to fully trust the Lord in all circumstances and not try to do what is right in our own opinion or in the ways of the world.
Instead mediate on the Bible and do your best to live it out.
When you do and the blessings and change in your life happens don’t take credit and give Jesus all the glory, honor and praise.
Really challenge yourself to let go of all stress and anxiety and trust the Lord and by all means stay away from those people, places and things which seek to corrupt you or distance you from the Lord.
When you listen to the wisdom found in this scripture you too will have the blessings found in it which is wisdom, knowledge, refreshing and a peace which truly passes all understanding.
