Which is the greatest commandment in the Law…Marriage
“You Shall Love the Lord your God”- Personal relationship, personal devotion, personal dedication. Not just a distant knowledge. Don’t forget, this is a quote from the OT. This has not changed over time.
With all your
Heart- “The word “heart” refers to the physical organ and is considered to be the center of the physical life.”
Soul-the immaterial part of a person which is the actuating cause of an individual life; the site of all the psychological faculties (such as the heart, mind, and conscience).
Mind- disposition
All of these are inner aspects of you that people will never see and yet everyone will see.
This is the great and first commandment
The most important in your life
The most important in your marriage. Look at where he goes next...
You Shall love your neighbour as yourself- over the last 20 some years you have learned to love yourself well.
In this case, your neighbour is Alexis.
On These two Commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets
Philippians 3:13-14

Brothers
I do not consider that I have made it my own
Paul is very honest about the reality of his life, he is not perfect. There was a time where he tried to live life without Jesus!
No one has a perfect marriage
But one thing I do
Forgetting what lies behind- crumpled paper
And straining forward to what lies ahead- Paul is teaching that in order to forget what lies behind it requires reaching for what is ahead. Now you will be reaching together
I press on toward the goal
for the prize of the upward Call of God in Christ Jesus
