Revelation 1:3 ESV
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
All you’ve heard for the last month is that God has a plan! Revelation gives us that promise. Through all the things we read in the book, we realize that God has a plan for each of us. The future is in His hands.

What happens when you watch the news?

What are the headlines filled with? When you are finished watching the news, do you come away feeling better or worse?

What if this was the only thing you got filled with each day?

Is it the only thing you get filled with each day?
War, crime, hate, violence, senseless death. These are the things the news is filled with today. Most news programs however, will end with a little light story at the end of the news to try and counteract all the other news you’ve been bombarded with.
The news typically hits us with negativism. Why? It sells. Why has our news media gone more like the tabloids in Europe that I remember as a kid on how sensational the stories were. When I was in a journalism class, it was actually one of the things we talked about. We discussed how they would go for the headline to drag you in.
How many times have you been drug into a story by a misleading headline? It sounds like something big is happening, but really there isn’t anything to the story at all. Hook, line, and sinker.
Ecclesiastes 1:3 ESV
3 What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun?
This is the way the writer of Ecclesiastes felt. If all we had to focus on was the bad things happening around us, we would be tempted to think this way and stay there.

When we find ourselves becoming pessimistic, we should spend more time with God and His Word.

As Christians, when we find ourselves being so negative and pessimistic about the world, maybe we should spend more time in the Word.
Revelation tells us that Jesus is going to triumph not only all of the evil in the world, but death itself.
Revelation 11:15 ESV
15 Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”
With all the negative we have in the world, all we have to do is look at the Word of God and know we need to turn to it. I’m not saying we need to bury our head in the sand with what is going on in the world, but I am saying we shouldn’t look at it the same way the non-Christian does. If we do, we are no different than them.
Ask yourself this question,

Are the things you’re fighting for make a difference in the Kingdom of God?

There will be things we need to take a stand for as Christians. There are somethings we will like we need to be standing against that really don’t amount to a hill of beans.
Do the things we get upset about have a spiritual impact?
With all the hate groups that are around in the world right now,

How does your attitude and actions towards them effect your ability to witness to them?

Matthew 5:44 ESV
44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
Jesus was quite plain in what we were supposed to do. So many times we want to attack those who are against us with the same type of hate they have towards us.

Are we condemning them to hell because our actions and attitudes toward them?

Romans 3:23 ESV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Not just some, all. We all have fallen short. Who earned this salvation? No one. It is only through the grace and love of God for us, all of us, that we were provided with a way to become righteous in His eyes. His Son paid the prices for ALL of our sins. Every persons.

Who are we to witness too?

Matthew 28:18–20 ESV
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
When we talk about these groups we don’t agree with and we talk, how does our tone affect the way you would be able to share Christ with them?

Remember, as a Christian, you are always carrying Christ with you.

He is there whether you want to say Christ of the Holy Spirit, He is there. How would He judge your actions? What would He think of your behavior? Your words?

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what others think, it is what Christ thinks.

He is the one who will sit on the throne of judgement and we must answer to for what we did and didn’t do.
May we be found faithful listening to the things Christ would have us do and say since we are the Christ they will see.
