God’s people are not restricted to one physical area because His grace is sufficient for all sinners, everywhere.
3 Reminders we need today:
God is able to save His people no matter where they live. (vs. 21)
Missionary Stories
Missions and Church Planting Emphasis at GV
God is able to reach His people no matter what situation they are in. (vs. 22)
Christian Worldview is necessary
It is absolutely wrong to have our cultural, historical, or political perspective shape our missional heart, the gospel must to that.
Isreal vs. Gaza - Christians are in both areas.
GOSPEL
God is able to transform, keep, and equip His people for Godly living and missional lives by His grace. (vs. 23)
“Grace becomes not only the means by which God once justified us, it is also the means by which we are continually encouraged and enabled to serve him with undiminished delight.” - Bryan Chapell
Throughout the book of Philippians we have seen the thought of unity, maturity, humility, joy, and other themes come up time and time again. Why? for this!
God’s people will fail in Gospel mission if they fail to walk daily by His grace.
Philippians 1:20–21 ESV
20 as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:27–28 ESV
27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not frightened in anything by your opponents. This is a clear sign to them of their destruction, but of your salvation, and that from God.
Philippians 2:12–13 ESV
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Philippians 2:14 ESV
14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing,
Philippians 3:8–11 ESV
8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith— 10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
Philippians 3:20 ESV
20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Philippians 4:4–7 ESV
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:11–13 ESV
11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:23 ESV
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.
By God’s grace we mature, grow, learn, repent, and follow Jesus by His grace and as we do so the mission of God is stoked in us and we see ministry opportunity everywhere.
