Worship the answer to life's drudgery

My 12 rules of life

I also have a mission statement

Love God
Love others
Love to serve
• What do we often think of when we think of worship
• Our image of worship
• Let us change it form something we do -
To the way we live
• What dominates our time - family job recreation
• What if those things became part of our worship
Bringing enjoyment to God, living for his pleasure, is the first purpose of your life.
• When you fully understand this truth, you will never again have a problem with feeling insignificant.
• It proves your worth
Psalm 149:4 (CSB)
4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people...
• Think on this???
• What makes this true

The Smile of God

A. Our image of God
Image of an angry God
Numbers 6:25 NLT
25 May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you.
Numbers 6:25 NKJV
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you;
3. The smile of God is the goal of your life.

How do we make God smile?

God smiles when we love Him
Mark 12:30 NIV
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’
b) Where is your first love
God smiles when we trust Him
a) Time and space
b) In what areas of your life do you need to trust God completely?
c) Trusting is an act of worship
God smiles when we obey Him
a) Often we try to offer God partial obedience. We want to pick and choose the commands we obey. We make a list of the commands we like and obey those while ignoring the ones we think are unreasonable, difficult, expensive, or unpopular. I’ll attend church but I won’t tithe. I’ll read my Bible but won’t forgive the person who hurt me. Yet partial obedience is disobedience.
b) Anybody else guilty?
God smiles when we praise and thank Him
a) If God gave us nothing but salvation
b) Praising God is an act of worship
c) Let me teach you an Indian word
D. Are you seeing how worship is a lifestyle

The Heart of Worship

Surrender

Romans 12:1 NIV
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
See the picture?

True worship is a surrender of self

1. A sacrifice
2. Take your cross
3. Pride and fear is the enemy of worship
Romans 12:2 NIV
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Worship is a Lifestyle

1. It includes…
a) Quiet time
b) Music
c) Praying
2. It’s about Love, Trust, Obedience, Praise,
a) We can include prayer, singing, teaching, preaching, study, silence
