The Promises Of God

2 Peter 1:2 (NLT)
2 May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord.
Jesus Christ is over the gifts of grace and peace.
No greater gifts come from the promises of God than grace and peace

Grace is the undeserved favor and blessings of God.

The word undeserved is the key to understanding grace. We do not deserve God's favor; we cannot earn God's approval and blessings.
God is too high and man is too low for us to deserve anything from God.
We are imperfect and God is perfect; So we can’t expect anything from God So we thrive on the Promises Of God!

God is love

He is Perfect and absolute love.
So, God makes it possible for us to experience His grace, and in particular the favor and blessing of salvation which is in Jesus Christ!
2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT
9 You know the generous grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich.

Peace means to be bound, joined, and woven together.

Not only with others but more importantly - to be tied up - tangled up , joined with God. - That’s peace
It means to be assured, confident, and secure in the love and care of God. - That’s peace
It means to have a sense, a consciousness, a knowledge that God will... • provide
• guide
• strengthen
• sustain
• deliver
• encourage
• save
• give real life both now and forever - that’s peace
Hear Me - We can only experience true peace - ever lasting peace when we come to know Jesus!
Only Jesus can bring peace to the human heart,
The kind of peace that brings deliverance and assurance to our soul.
John 16:33 NKJV
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
Psalm 4:8 NKJV
8 I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord my soul to keep if I should die before I wake I pray the Lord My soul to Take!
That’s Peace!

God’s Promised Blessings!

2 Peter 1:3 NKJV
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,

Life— Godliness

Jesus is over all things necessary for life!
Here is what I mean,
The life which Jesus gives is a life of energy, force, and power.
It’s the opposite of what the world gives which is a life - where we perish, A temporary life!
This life Jesus gives is without judgement
The Life that Jesus wants for you and me is a life that lasts forever and ever.
John 17:3 NLT
3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
I know this may seem like a lot, but Jesus wants us to have the very life of God Himself
an abundant life,
a life of the highest quality,
a life that overflows with all the good things of love, joy, peace, goodness, satisfaction, and security.
Whatever is necessary for this type of life is given by to us by Jesus .
You can’t be really living without the Lord!
He longs for you and me to live, to have an abundance of life; so when we come to him, He gives all things that will make us overflow with life
It is living life like it should be lived.
Here’s the deal God gave us life; So God knows what life looks like, feels like and what life should be!
The word "godliness" actually means to live in the reverence and awe of God;
It means to be so conscious of God's presence that you live just as God would live if He were walking upon earth.
It means to live seeking to be like God;
It means to live your life with the focus on having the very character, nature, and behavior of God.
It means to follow or run after the things of God!
It means to seeks God's presence daily
Godliness means to be Christlike.
Titus 2:12 NCV
12 It teaches us not to live against God nor to do the evil things the world wants to do. Instead, that grace teaches us to live in the present age in a wise and right way and in a way that shows we serve God.
Titus 2:13 NCV
13 We should live like that while we wait for our great hope and the coming of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
To receive the promises of real life and godliness: You must be in relationship with Jesus Christ!
This type of life, you can’t get from the world or the things of the world!
2 Peter 1:4 NLT
4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.
The promises are those that have to do with the nature of God,
This is the nature that is put in our heart when we believe in Jesus.
God sends His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, to live in our heart
Here me, God puts in our heart his own nature and makes us a new creatures,
Anew man, A new woman,
A new boy or A new girl.
We are actually born again spiritually.
We live eternally
How does that happen?
Because the divine nature of God can never die.
When it is time for us to depart this life, in a blink of an eye , our spirit is transferred into heaven, into the very presence of God Himself.
Why? Because of the divine presence of God: the Holy Spirit can never die! The Spirit of God always goes back to God!
To receive this promise

You must be born again!

1 John 5:1 NIV
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.

You are a New Creature

2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

You Are New!

Ephesians 4:24 NLT
24 Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.

You Have The Nature of God!

2 Peter 1:4 NCV
4 Through these he gave us the very great and precious promises. With these gifts you can share in God’s nature, and the world will not ruin you with its evil desires.

Spiritual Arithmetic!

2 Peter 1:5–7 NCV
5 Because you have these blessings, do your best to add these things to your lives: to your faith, add goodness; and to your goodness, add knowledge; 6 and to your knowledge, add self-control; and to your self-control, add patience; and to your patience, add service for God; 7 and to your service for God, add kindness for your brothers and sisters in Christ; and to this kindness, add love.
Make sure you are doing your math
When you become a new creation the bible says start with faith and then add these things to your life :
Let’s break that down

1. Virtue

Moral excellence and good character; moral strength and moral courage.
It means being a real man or a real woman in life; living life in a way the brings God glory!

2. Knowledge

Living in practical intelligence and insight.
It means doing the right thing in every situation !
It is day to day insight that sees situations and knows how to handle them.
It is seeing the trials and temptations of life and knowing what to do with them and doing the right thing.
Remember the charge: we must add knowledge to our faith. We must give focused attention to the situations of life and figure out how to conquer them.

3. Self-Control

You must master and control your body or your flesh and all of its lusts.
Self-control of desire, of appetite and of passions, especially sensual or sexual urges and cravings.
It means to be strong and controlled and restrained.
It means to stand against the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eye and the pride of life
1 John 2:15–16 NCV
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If you love the world, the love of the Father is not in you. 16 These are the ways of the world: wanting to please our sinful selves, wanting the sinful things we see, and being too proud of what we have. None of these come from the Father, but all of them come from the world.

4. Patience

Endurance, fortitude, stedfastness, constancy, perseverance. This is an active word.
It is not the spirit that just sits back and puts up with the trials of life, taking whatever may come.
It is the spirit that stands up and faces life's trials, that actively goes about conquering and overcoming them.
When trials confront you and you are truly justified,
You must get up and face the trial head on.
Sets out to conquer and overcome them.
Knowing that God is allowing the trials in order to teach you more and more patience. (endurance).

5. Brotherly Kindness

the very special love that exists between brothers and sisters within a loving family, brothers and sisters who truly cherish one another. It is the kind of love...
• that binds each other together as a family, as a clan.
• the love that binds each other in an unbreakable union.
• the love that holds each other ever so dearly in the heart.
• the love that knows deep affection for each other.
• the love that nourishes and nurtures each other.
• the love that shows concern and looks after the welfare of each other.
• the love that joins hands with each other in a common purpose under one father
How can we love one another like this when we are not blood brothers and sisters?
Here is how. The Greek word "brother" (adelphos) means from the same womb.
The word used for love is phileo which means deep-seated affection and care, deep and warm feelings within the heart. It is the kind of love that holds a person near and dear to one's heart.
Combine the two Greek words brotherly love
Brotherly love for people who have come from the same womb, or the same source.
They have been born again by the Spirit of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When they receive this new birth, God gives them a new spirit—a spirit that melts and binds their hearts and lives in love for all the family of God.
We may not even know each other.
We may be from different parts of the world, but there is a brotherly love between us because we come from the same source - given a new birth and a new spirit of love by God.
We are brothers and sisters in the family of God—the family of those who truly believe in God's Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—the family who has received a new spirit that binds them together in brotherly love. This new spirit, comes from the Holy Spirit of God Himself
John 15:12 NKJV
12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

6. Love

Add "love" the agapē love of God, the love that goes so far...
• that it loves regardless of feelings—whether a person feels like loving or not.
• that it loves a person even if the person does not deserve to be loved.
• that it actually loves the person who is utterly unworthy of being loved.
This love is Selfless - It is the love demonstrated in the cross of Christ. It is the love of God for the ungodly.
That Romans 5:6 Love
It is the love of God for unworthy sinners.
That Romans 5:8 love
Romans 5:8 NKJV
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
It is the love of God for undeserving enemies
It’s that Romans 5:10 Love
Romans 5:10 NCV
10 While we were God’s enemies, he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Surely, now that we are his friends, he will save us through his Son’s life.
It is that love that can only be experienced if you know How Great Is Our God
If you know him personally and have experienced his Agape Love.
It is that love of Jesus that won’t let you stop doing the right thing!
It’s that What Is This Love that is making me feel this way
It is that love that you pour out and want everyone to experience!
It’s That Romans 5:5 Love
Romans 5:5 NLT
5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
It’s that 1 Corinthians 13:13 Love
1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Make sure you are doing your arithmetic! Add the right things to your faith!
I’ll leave you with this
1 Chronicles 29:10–13 NKJV
10 Therefore David blessed the Lord before all the assembly; and David said: “Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, The power and the glory, The victory and the majesty; For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, And You are exalted as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. 13 “Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name.
