Main Idea: God blesses His people with *land* and *rest* when they are obedient to Him and unified with one another.
Notice, as we read, the repetition of two words: Rest and Land
Read Text
Land and Rest is Central to God’s Covenant Love
Land: a place of safety and fellowship with God
Creation
Abraham: I will give you a land
Exodus: I
will take you to a land
Red Sea: I can once again turn sea into dry land.
Jesus turns sea into dry land as he walks on it.
Eschatology: We are promised a new land
Existential: We experience God walking with us today.
Rest: a place of peace
Hebrews 3:7-4:11
Transition: For the NT Christian, the concepts of “Land” and “Rest” indicate the life of joy.
Principle 1: God gives us joy as we trust in His sovereignty (10-11)
Principle 2: God gives us joy as we serve others (12-15)
Ref: Numbers 32
Principle 3: God gives you joy as you live in His presence (17)
Principle 4: God gives us joy as we obey His Word (18)
Conclusion: Peace and Joy are found in Jesus Christ
