Blessed Are the Pure in Heart

FOCUS

A camera with a lens cover that hasn’t been removed renders the camera useless concerning that for which is was designed. You may be able to hit someone with it or put it under one of the tires on your car or truck or trailer to keep it from rolling, but you’ll never be able to get a picture with it.

So it is with those seeking to see God without a pure heart. Try though you might giving it that which you believe to be your very best shot, eventually you’ll come to see you can’t see God.

As we continue in this series through the beatitudes, once again this morning we are confronted by the beauty & simplicity of what Jesus is saying … without the words “if” & “then” being said, we sense the clarity of this call to be pure in heart.

Having a pure heart …

1. is the only way to truly see God.

It’s like the difference between polluted & pure gas when it comes to driving a car.

2. is the result of God answering our cry for one.

Only God can cleanse, recreate & replace a

heart damaged by experiential knowledge of sin.

Psalm 51:10-12 (Ezekiel 36:24-32)

Making It Real

1] One a scale of 1 to 10, what is the purity level of your heart today?

2] Do you need to ask God to cleanse & purify your heart today?

Action Step

Write down some areas in your life where purity of you heart

is needed today. Ask God to purify & cleanse you through & though.
