Biblical Statement

It doesn=t matter what is going on in the world today.  God through His Word has promised to protect His people.  We can be confident in Him and His promises, and we know He will be with  us in every circumstance (Psa. 23).

1 Psalm 23  A psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. (NIV)

To fear God is to praise Him (Psa. 22:23).

Psalm 22:23 23  You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! (NIV)

Scripture

Psalm 34:4 4  I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. (NIV)

1 John 4:18 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (NIV)

2 Timothy 1:7 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. (NIV)

Psalm 27:1  Psalm 27  Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation -- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life -- of whom shall I be afraid? (NIV)

Isaiah 41:10 10  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (NIV)

Psalm 22:23 23  You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! (NIV)

Counsel

Fear is one of Satan=s main strategies for immobilizing God=s workers.  He is the master of scare tactics.  All the saints of the Bible were commanded to AFEAR NOT.@  Fear is an enemy to faith.  One cannot have both at the same time.  Combat fear by positive faith in the word of God.

Fear is something that we feel and do and that God commanded us not to do.  It is sin.  Learn to speak out your faith in God.  Confess the truths of Scripture out loud.  Fear may be an outcome of an embarrassing, unpleasant experience.  There may be a fear of being exposed to the experience again or even to meeting someone who brought it about or who was involved in it.

Minister deliverance as needed.  Emphasize the freedom from fear in Christ, or repentance for being fearful, or repentance for the counselee=s own resentment and bitterness toward those involved.

The best way to combat fear is to gain an promote within one=s self, a reverence for God.  Counsel the individual to begin offering praise (honor and respect) for God.  He will dispel all fear and minster faith instead.

Prayer

Bind the spirit of fear and torment in the name of Jesus, and loose the Spirit of peace and rest.  Thank the Father for sending the Holy Spirit to minister to this one, and restore confidence in the promises of the Word.  Join in praise and thanksgiving, honoring and revering God, along with the individuals.
