Intro

I’m not going to be long, this is just going to be almost a quick devotional thought rather than a full exegetical sermon

Talk about seniors

Summarize vances message and talking to him about service

This is service is about our seniors but it is still a worship service and Jesus is our focal point

We are celebrating what Jesus has done in their lives and what He will continue to do in their lives

So you’re at the high dive, you’re about to jump, you make a huge splash

Right Place

Right Preparation

Right People

So when i think of those three things, I think of God’s place, God’s preparation, God’s people

I think of Gods will

A lot of times in church when we talk about Gods will we talk about it as if its some mystical mythical thing that were trying to find, we’ve all used or heard the phrase I’m trying to find God’s will for my life.

So very quickly lets see what the Bible says about God’s will:

Romans 12:1–2 KJV 1900

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Some of my favorite verses that I quote often.

As Christians this is our number one desire in life, to do the will of God, especially when we go off on our own.

Which you’re about to do. This Thursday you will make that splash, but what you do after the water settles and the cheering stops is what will make the difference.

You get back to the edge of the water, you get out, and you take that first step back to the diving board to make another splash.

Each decision you make in life is like each step you take back to the diving board.

Before, you had other people helping you, other people preparing you to get to that place, but now its up to you to take the right steps back to the diving board to make another splash.

Life is not about making just one huge splash, but about doing a cannon ball over and over and over again. Doing the will of God over and over and over again everyday, pleasing Him.

I don’t know what the next splash, or huge accomplishment will be, maybe starting a career, going to college, finding a spouse, starting a family...

Each splash you make will affect those around you*** tell story of trying to splash people at kimberly pool when i was a kid

So what do you do right now if you don’t know God’s will for your future?

Do God’s will now.

The best way to figure out God’s will for your future is to do God’s will in the present.

So what’s God’s will now? Thankfully the Bible tells us

1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV 1900

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

1 Thessalonians 4:3 KJV 1900

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

1 Peter 2:15 KJV 1900

For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

Ephesians 5:17 KJV 1900

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Hebrews 10:36 KJV 1900

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Hebrews 13:20–21 KJV 1900

Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Give thanks, pursue purity and sanctification, don’t listen to fools, be wise, be patient, and in that last verse we mentioned the Lord will give you the tools to do His will.

Do the will of the Lord now, so that you will be doing the will of the Lord in the future.

Every step you take to that diving board is a decision that you make. Each splash you make will bring glory to God. Be sure the steps you take are towards the diving board and not in the opposite direction.

The right place, preparation, and people will help you to do that.

Go make a big splash in this world, and then another, and then another, and then another… by doing the will of the Lord.
