The Gospel of John presents the personal side of Christ’s ministry. He was known as the “bosom disciple.” He gives a firsthand account of the life of Christ. John did not write his Gospel until a generation after Matthew, Mark, and Luke. He was the last disciple to die. It is believed that he was around one hundred years old when he died on the isle of Patmos.” OK A LITTLE TRIVIA HERE...... How many books in the Bible did John write? FIVE.

We want things clear don’t we? We are lazy people. If we are diving into God’s Holy Bible, things in life are explained to us in a way that only God can explain. BUT.....MANY TIMES WE FAIL TO READ, WE FAIL TO LISTEN, WE FAIL TO STUDY.

WHO IS THE THE CARETAKER OF THE GARDEN?
WHO IS THE THE CARETAKER OF THE GARDEN?
John 15:1 tells us: 1 “I (Jesus) am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.”.....We want to be the gardener don’t we? At least until its to late.

We are under The Father’s care.
We are under The Father’s care.
The Father purges and takes away that which hinders our spiritual growth. You ever wonder why something that you think is great seems to disappear? Maybe it’s God pruning us, an action, a choice, a friend

John 15:2 “2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.”

If we have Jesus, We have been pruned (cleansed) to perfection by the gardener.

John 15:3 “You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.”

Have we began “Walking in the Spirit?” Galatians 5:16 “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.”

When we do walk in the Holy Spirit, our Father is always Cleansing/or pruning if you will our attitudes. Your attitudes not only show who we really are in your life, but they control you!

Proverbs 23:7 “They are always thinking about how much it costs. “Eat and drink,” they say, but they don’t mean it.”.....selfishness, greed, lying…These are unproductive branches that needs pruning. Anyone here this morning need some cutting of bad attitudes?

John 15:4 “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”
John 15:4 “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.”
So we’ve established the fact that you and I are BRANCHES right? What is the job of a branch? The branch must stay attached to the vine. Let me repeat myself, The branch must stay attached to the vine (our Father)

As a branch our calling, you and me is to fulfill God’s desire for you to be fruitful. What exactly is the fruit? The branches (you and I) reproduces the life that’s in the vine. The fruit is being like Jesus Christ. Not just in our thoughts but also in our actions. AMEN

So we must be “abiding” in Christ. Abiding in Christ means we have fellowship with Christ.1 John 1:7 “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” .....so we are abiding then what? WE WAIT FOR GOD TO SHOW US WHAT’S NEXT. In the book of Isaiah, God instructs Isaiah to preach to the people.......

Isaiah 40:31 “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

So as we trust- since we have faith, RIGHT, we are abiding in God right, then we wait right -for God to lead us.

Are we Depending upon God? John 15:5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” Paul tells us in Philippians 4:13 “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”

Are you getting this? Without Jesus, we can do nothing but basically get in trouble, get it wrong, fumble through life.

The word ABIDE appears 10 times in the first eleven verses of John 15. Do you think Jesus wanted to make sure we seethe necessity of abiding and trusting in him?

So what does scripture say if we do not Abide in Jesus?
Well, i’m glad you asked......Those who don’t produce fruit are cast into the fire. John 15:6 “Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.” Do I need to say that any other way? I hope not. Jesus urged repentance and changing our ways of living.

Luke 13:2–3 2 “Do you think those Galileans were worse sinners than all the other people from Galilee?” Jesus asked. “Is that why they suffered? 3 Not at all! And you will perish, too, unless you repent of your sins and turn (abide, remain) to God.”

We must be Prayerful to Abide and become fruitful for Jesus. John 15:7 “But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!"

God Promises us that if we continue abiding in Him, He continues abiding in us, we receive all we need if we just ask. John 15:8 “When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” .....Isn’t this what I pray EVERY week? Father, let all we do bring you Glory.

We remain the branches because we obey THE COMMANDMENTS.

God’s Love remains a Steadfast love. He prunes when we need pruned but all the way He is loving us.

John 15:9–12 “9 “I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. 10 When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in His love. 11 I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! 12 This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you."

Without Jesus as our vine, we cannot stay attached to the power and presence of Jesus in our daily lives. I’m sure you know when you are connected or when you have “cut” away from the vine.

John 3:16–17 16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

We are children of Christ, if we do what He commands. Words are not enough. HE REQUIRES OBEDIENCE!

THE GREAT COMMISSION.....Go out and bear fruit, we are the branches that stay connected to Jesus, the vine and tell all about our Salvation through our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ.
