Proverbs 3:5–7 NASB95

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

We believe that God is all-knowing. There is nothing that he can still learn because He already knows everything…even the future.

There is no limit to God’s knowledge and wisdom.

In contrast, we human beings are not all-knowing. we lack wisdom. We makes mistakes due to poor decision makings…and partly because we trust more of our wisdom than God’s wisdom.

Since wisdom comes from Yahweh (prov. 2:6), He must be trusted.

In our text, we can learn that we must rely on God’s wisdom rather than human wisdom.

True Wisdom is making Godly Choices. Choices that glorifies God.

Attaining Wisdom starts with:

1. Proper Understanding of God

2. Trusting in God

3. Living According to God’s purpose

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.

Trust = firm belief in God

This is in the imperative form , a command, not a suggestion.

With all your heart - God requires all, not half, not partial.

Proverbs 3:6 NASB95

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

All your ways - God is God of all, all your ways must be submitted to God.

Acknowledge -to know, mental awareness by personal experience, to learn from..

Trust in God’s power and strength

7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

Humility is the characteristic of the wise.

Fear - reverent attitude towards God.

Being wise in our own eyes is a Failure to Trust God

Trust in Wealth

Trust in false gods

Trust in human strength

Trust in our own righteousness

Job 8:13–15 NASB95

13 “So are the paths of all who forget God; And the hope of the godless will perish, 14 Whose confidence is fragile, And whose trust a spider’s web. 15 “He trusts in his house, but it does not stand; He holds fast to it, but it does not endure.

May we put our trust in the Lord regardless of our life situation (all of our heart).

Jesus made sure that His death on the cross would create in us a new heart - a heart that loves him and follow him!

Remember, His grace is sufficient for us.
