2 Timothy 1:6–8 NKJV
6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,
The Spirit of God is the spirit of Power, Love and sound mind.
Acts 1:8 NKJV
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Romans 5:5 NKJV
5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
The Spirit of fear, is the Spirit of the World, people are bound by the Spirit of fear. They are afraid of many things. However we are called to walk in the Spirit of God, the Spirit of power, Love and sound mind.
When you are operating under the complete of the Spirit of God, you will not succum to the Spirit of Fear, in fact you will cast it out.
1 John 4:18 NKJV
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
Therefore a person who is fearfull has not yet been perfected in love that is, he is not operating in the full measure of God’s love or God’s Spirit.
When one is under the spirit of fear, he becomes powerless, and loses control of his or her mind.
Fear will paralize your mind, you would not be able to make sound Judgement, even make basic decisions when you are consumed with fear.
What the Bible says concerrning the righteous
Proverbs 28:1 NKJV
1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.
The righteous don’t flee because of fear or terror
The righteous is not afraid, not because there is no fear but rather in the midst of fearfall things he will walk in boldness
The righteous does not allow fear to control or have an impact in his Spirit,or mind. He refuse to allow fear to have any power over him.
Jesus as an example
Matthew 14:22-23, Jesus comes to the desciples walking on water around the fourth watch (3 AM-6AM)
the desciples were terriefied of the storm and they were “straining at rowing” trying to get the boat to safety while Jesus was calmly walking on the waving and stormy water.
Matthew 8:23-27 Jesus sleeps in the boat while it was about tosink because of the storm
This is the power of the Spirit of God. God has called us and given us the freedom to be able to walk in boldness,in peace and sound mind in a midst of fearful situations.
There are many fearful things in the world but the righteous man does not allows those fearfull things to take hold of him.
Psalm 46:1–3 NKJV
1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah
Psalm 112:5–8 NKJV
5 A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion. 6 Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. 7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. 8 His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.
The Spirit of Fear comes in many forms.
The fear of man
The fear of the unknown
The fear of the future
The fear of the past
Our bible is full of examples people who disobeyed God, displeased God because they succumed to the Spirit of fear.
The fear of Man
Proverbs 29:25 NKJV
25 The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.
King Saul as an example
1 Samuel 15:24–26 NKJV
24 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. 25 Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the Lord.” 26 But Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.”
Saul was rejected by the Lord from being King because instead of obeying the Spirit of God He obeyed the Spirit of fear.
Example when Spirit of the Lord tells you to come to the House of the Lord but you don’t because you are afraid of people.
Example when God tells you to witness to someone but you hesitate and don’t speak because you are afraid what they might think.
King Zedekiah
Jeremiah 38:14–23 NKJV
14 Then Zedekiah the king sent and had Jeremiah the prophet brought to him at the third entrance of the house of the Lord. And the king said to Jeremiah, “I will ask you something. Hide nothing from me.” 15 Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “If I declare it to you, will you not surely put me to death? And if I give you advice, you will not listen to me.” 16 So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, “As the Lord lives, who made our very souls, I will not put you to death, nor will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.” 17 Then Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, “Thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘If you surely surrender to the king of Babylon’s princes, then your soul shall live; this city shall not be burned with fire, and you and your house shall live. 18 But if you do not surrender to the king of Babylon’s princes, then this city shall be given into the hand of the Chaldeans; they shall burn it with fire, and you shall not escape from their hand.’ ” 19 And Zedekiah the king said to Jeremiah, “I am afraid of the Jews who have defected to the Chaldeans, lest they deliver me into their hand, and they abuse me.” 20 But Jeremiah said, “They shall not deliver you. Please, obey the voice of the Lord which I speak to you. So it shall be well with you, and your soul shall live. 21 But if you refuse to surrender, this is the word that the Lord has shown me: 22 ‘Now behold, all the women who are left in the king of Judah’s house shall be surrendered to the king of Babylon’s princes, and those women shall say: “Your close friends have set upon you And prevailed against you; Your feet have sunk in the mire, And they have turned away again.” 23 ‘So they shall surrender all your wives and children to the Chaldeans. You shall not escape from their hand, but shall be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon. And you shall cause this city to be burned with fire.’ ”
King Zedekiah refused to obey God but chose to obey the Spirit of fear.
whatever he feared came upon him
Psalm 56:11 NKJV
11 In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
The fear of the future and the unknown.
Luke 21:25–28 NKJV
25 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; 26 men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
People will be afraid of the future, and the will be afraid of the things that are unknown about the future.
There will be distress of the nations.
However God’s poeple are not suppose to be in fear but rather walking in hope and the Spirit of the power of God.
People out of the fear of the future, They are going into all kinds of speculations and theories of what is to come .
People have become more interested in conspiracy theories about the future than what the word of God says.
What does the Bible say about Conspiracy theories
Isaiah 8:11–13 NKJV
11 For the Lord spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying: 12 “Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. 13 The Lord of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your dread.
Isaiah 8:11–13 KJV 1900
11 For the Lord spake thus to me with a strong hand, And instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying, 12 Say ye not, A confederacy, To all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; Neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid. 13 Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; And let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
Some people are so full into Conspiracy theories that they are afraid of certain groups of people who they believe are running the world than they are afraid of God.
It is not God’s will that you make judgment and allow your decision to be influenced by what people fear, by what people call conspiracu,or conspiracy theories. Your judgement and action should be based on the word of God and should be done in the Spirit of God and not of fear.
Conclusion
Let us not walk in the Spirit of Fear, but in the Spirit of God.
Let us cast out every fear.
