1 Corinthians 13:5 AMP

5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

1) it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly.

Our culture can be rude in general. Since we grow up in our culture we as Christians can easily take on the its characteristics and think its normal.

We can be Christians with bad habits.

If I wear something unbecomingly it means that I am wearing something that does not look good on me.

When we as believers act unbecomingly, we are wearing spiritual clothing that does not look good on us.

Colossians 3:14

Colossians 3:14 ESV

14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

Rude behavior is on the rise in the United States; that’s what 79% of Americans say.

Many factors influence a person's inclination to be rude, including having an:

impatient disposition,

being in a hurry,

or feeling like no one cares about what they feel or say.

That said, rude behavior all boils down to one thing:

People who are rude generally don't care about other people!

For example :

its rude to interrupt others when they are talking specially without saying “excuse me”

Being noisy

Cutting in lines

Any form of disrespect to the elderly

treating store employees or waitstaff rudely

bad table manners

cutting others off in traffic

being late

using the last of anything and not replacing it

ghost others

fail to say “thank you” and “please”

leaving messes in pubic bathrooms

The opposite of being Rude is courtesy. Someone once said its love in the little things.

Being a gentleman. Gentle man or a man who does things gently, with love. Gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit.

Romans 14:19, 1 Corinthians 10:23-24, 31-34

19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.

1 Corinthians 10:23–24 ESV

23 “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. 24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

1 Corinthians 10:31–33 ESV

31 So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 32 Give no offense to Jews or to Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I try to please everyone in everything I do, not seeking my own advantage, but that of many, that they may be saved.

Before I came to the Lord I did what I wanted when I wanted. I was the Lord of my own life. So I thought. I was actually following the prince of the air.

Try to become totally unselfish, even for one day, and you will quickly find what a challenge it is.

The flesh is strong but the Spirit is stronger.

My Wife sits through movies she doesn't necessarily like as a act of selfless love.

Story of officer Lawrence Deprimo

On a cold November night in Times Square, Officer Lawrence DePrimo was working counter terrorism patrol when he encountered an older, barefooted homeless man. The officer disappeared for a moment, then returned with a new pair of boots, and knelt to help the man lace them up and put them on.

The act of kindness would have gone unnoticed and mostly forgotten, had it not been for a tourist from Arizona.

Her snapshot— taken with her cellphone on Nov. 14 and posted to the New York Police Deparment’s Facebook page late the next day, made Officer DePrimo an overnight Internet hero.

Officer DePrimo, 25, was shocked at the attention.

He recalled the encounter. “It was freezing out and you could see the blisters on the man’s feet,” he said in an interview. “I had two pairs of socks and I was still cold.” They started talking; he found out the man’s shoe size: 12.

As the man walked slowly down Seventh Avenue on his heels, Officer DePrimo went into a Skechers shoe store. The store manager said, “We were just kind of shocked,” “Most of us are New Yorkers and we just kind of pass by that kind of thing. Especially in this neighborhood.”

Mr. Cano volunteered to give the officer his employee discount to bring down the regular $100 price of the all-weather boots to a little more than $75. The officer has kept the receipt in his vest since then, he said, “to remind me that sometimes people have it worse.”

3) it is not touchy or fretful or resentful;

Some people get their feelings hurt about everything. Its difficult being in a relationship with people like this.

I think some of this stems from a desire to be in control.

When something doesn’t go the way we want it to we get upset.

The opposite is good tempered and self control.

Being an adult Christian isn’t about how long we have been a Christian or how much we know but how much we walk in love.

4) it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].

Another words it doesn’t take an account to an offense.

The Greek word for “offend” in Luke 17:1 comes from the word skandalon. This word originally referred to the part of the trap to which the bait was attached. Hence the word signifies laying a trap in someone’s way.

In the New Testament it often describes an entrapment used by the enemy. Offense is a tool of the devil to bring people into captivity. Paul instructed young Timothy 2:26

And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition,

if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare [entrapment] of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
