The sin of Sodom

Ezekiel 16:49 KJV 1900

49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

Ezekiel 16:50 (KJV 1900)

50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

We often think of Sodom as being the city of homosexual sin. And that being the sin that they are known for.

It is interesting how God sees the roots of things and what the main causes are.

God through the prophet Ezekiel shows us the true sin of Sodom, and it is an eye opener for the young person today…especially as we enter the summer months.

Pride

Pride is the first sin committed by Satan

Pride causes us to look on there here and now and miss the big picture

1 John 2:16 KJV 1900

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

When we sum up everything that is in the world this is what we have.

This is why we must be millennium minded

2. Fullness of bread

This is something that we see in our society today. There is an abundance of pretty much any kind of food we want. This is not always a bad thing but it can cause us to lose reliance of our Lord

3. Abundance of idleness

It has been said an idle mind is the devils playground

when we constantly have nothing to do (like in summer) we tend to find the wrong things to do

4. Haughty

means: arrogant, exalted, roaring eminence
