Confidence in Gods Love

I love being set up.

Set up in volleyball for a spike.

Bases loaded being able to hit a home run.

Set up with a job or career.

As we ready this story we are going to see Jesus setting us up for eternal life and set us up with confidence.

What is Confidence? How do we get confidence?

How I personally look at confidence is even if I fail someone is still willing to be there for me to pick me up and support me.

Someone always by my side will to tell me what I don’t want to hear when I need to hear it.

Hebrews 10: 24-25 NIV

24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

One who is there to encourage me to get to the next level and walk close with Jesus Christ. - SURROUND YOURSELF WITH WHO YOU WANT TO BECOME.

WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TOO?

If you say no one that means your being influenced by all these things around you but you havent discovered ???

WHO IS YOUR HERO? Everyone has a hero. Someone who has inspired you or taught you something that you cherish.

Before we read the story we are going to set up the story.

Jesus began to travel around teaching and performing miracles.

People wondered how He could do such amazing things.

One of these people was Nicodemus. He was inspired by Jesus.

Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin which was the Jewish high court.

Nicodemus knew the Scriptures inside and out, but he had never heard or seen anything like this before that was lining up to the Word of God

He was impacted by the life of Jesus and he became curious.

But He didn’t want the other religious leaders to know what he was up too.

Let’s back up!

Jesus tells Nicodemus right off the bat the answers he is look for. The secret that would change the world.

You Must Be Born Again to See The Kingdom of God

RE- READ John 3:3-8

a. Jesus Explains there is more then one Birth.

When you ask God into your Life and serve God with your Life you are Born Again.

Adoption happens. Ingrafted into Him.

Jesus begins to talk about what happens in the heart. The change is so complete and real it is like being born again.

Can you see the wind? No, but you can see what the wind does.

The same thing is true when you give your life to Jesus. Nobody can understand how it happens but everyone can see the results.

A person TRANSFORMED now loves doing good and hates what is evil. Loves others and lives in humility instead of being angry and having jealousy.

b. GOD MADE YOU. GOD LOVES YOU MORE DEEPLY THEN YOU CAN IMAGINE.

JESUS TELLS NICODEMUS A SECRET AND A PURPOSE THAT NO ONE ELSE KNEW.

JONH 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1. GOD LOVES BUT GOD ALSO GIVES ETERNAL LIFE.

-Jesus is saying believing in me gives people eternal life. Living Forever.

- They wont perish. (Friends that question their faith)

BELIEVE, CALLED, AND FOLLOW.

2. THEN HE TELLS HIM WHY HE IS NOT HERE. AND WHY HE IS HERE.

JOHN 3:17

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

JESUS DIDN’T COME TO TELL US WE ARE WORTHLESS, NOT VALUABLE.

A. HE CAME AND DIED FOR YOUR SINS TO TELL YOU HE LOVES YOU.

He wants to rescue you from the lying, from the murder.

Wages of Sin is death. Example is Drinking

READ JOHN 3:19

Light has come into the world. The cross shows we need forgiveness.

The Cross is offensive.

Fear that what they have done will be exposed.

This was person to Nicodemus because his religious friends hated Jesus.

Friends that don’t know God, secretly coming to Church.

B. LIVE IN THE TRUTH AND COME INTO THE LIGHT.

YOU ARE A LIGHTHOUSE!
