Welcome!
Welcome!
Over the last few nights we have been studying out of God’s Word and “digging deep” to see what the Bible says about Jesus and what He has done for us. We have had a great time with your kids and it seems as though they have had a great time as well! Tonight as we celebrate the week, I want to summarize what we’ve learned and point us to Jesus.
What is your trust placed in? For many, we trust in other people, we trust in things, and we trust in ourselves. It’s not bad to trust in these different things. We should have friends and family members who we can trust in. We should be able to get in our car and trust that it will get us from point A to point B with no problems. We should be able to wake up in the morning and trust in our feet to catch us whenever we take our first step. Did you know, though, that many people stop there? In our daily videos, we had 1 individual, Zach, who trusted in science and believed that science disproves the Bible and Jesus Christ. He trusted in other things/people and not in God’s Word. We have been reminded of the evidence that points to the Bible being true. There is evidence all around us from the sun, moon, trees, and rivers to our heart, eye, and brain doing all of their jobs effortlessly. Not only this, but there is clear scientific evidence that what the Bible says is true. From archeology to biology, we have plenty of evidence backing up the Bible’s claims.
Because of this, not only should we trust in things, but we should most of all trust in what the Bible says. What does the Bible say about trust and God’s plan?
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.
We are reminded of 2 things in these 2 verses:
God has a plan and God has a purpose.
We are reminded not to trust in our own understanding but to trust in the Lord. Some people don’t exactly like this because they like to trust in themselves. How many of you like to make the rules instead of letting someone else make the rules? This is natural! We like being in charge and doing whatever we want. The Bible tells us not to do this and instead to trust in the Lord. God has a plan and we are supposed to trust in His plan because Romans 8:28 reminds us
28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.
God, as verse 6 shares, also has a purpose and that purpose is to make our paths straight. The Bible shares that God loves us - isn’t that good news? You are created by God in order to know Him and give Him glory! That is your purpose given to you by God! Sometimes, though, we let things get in the way. We trust in other people or things instead of trusting in God. This creates lots of problems. As we dig into God’s Word - which we are supposed to do each and every day - we are reminded that God comes first. We are reminded that God has a plan for our lives and that He has a purpose for each and every one of us. This requires us to trust in Him and to understand that He is going to make our path straight. It might not always look straight or fun, but we trust that He knows best.
After all, He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for sinners like you and me! This is the best news of all. Have you trusted in Jesus as your Lord and Savior? If so, continue to trust in Him and dig deep into God’s Word! Join a church and attend regularly in order to grow spiritually. If you have not accepted Christ as Lord, why not tonight? Jesus has done all the work - He paid it all! All He requires is for us to repent of our sins. To admit that we have fallen short and to turn to Him. To trust in Him and live for Him the rest of our lives. The Bible shares that we must deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus. Don’t trust on your own understanding, trust in the Lord!
