Persisting in Spite of Opposition

The principle of persistence prayer

Prayer should be made with patience and perseverance Psalm 40:1

What God has done (40:1-5)

Lifted him out of despair (40:1-2)
Set his feet on solid ground (40:2)
Given him a new song (40:3-5)

What God desires (40:6-10)

Negative (40:6): The Lord does not delight in sacrifices and offerings.
Positive (40:7-10) : The Lord wants Dave to obey his law and tell others about his goodness.

Jesus taught his disciples to persist in prayer Luke 18:1-8

How persistence is rewarded by the sinful judge

The reason persistence (1-3): When a widow continually appeals to this godless judge for justice against a man who harmed her.
He rewards for her persistence: (18:4-5): This uncaring judge finally grants he justice, though only to rid himself of her complaints.

How persistence will be rewarded by the Sovereign judge (18:6-8)

God always rewards persistency by his children, not because of weariness but rather due to the His faithfulness!

Persistence in prayer was exemplified in the early church Acts 1:14

Action in the Upper Room, The eleven apostles, Mary the mother Jesus and other godly women, his brother s in all 120 people.

Paul exhorted the churches to practice persistent prayer Ephesians 6:18

The exhortation (6:10) Be strong in the Lord : Find strength in God’s mighty power .
Prepare yourself (6:11) Put on the full armor of God .
Stand firm (6:13)
Pray Always (18-20) Pray for yourself, Pray for others, and for me too. as I have open my mouth to make known with boldness
