Growing up in Jesus

2 Peter 1:5-8KJV

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We live as Christ’s Ambassadors we must grow as we go along. A child grows in height and weight and knowledge we as Christians grow as well if there is life we grow in Grace and Knowledge of Jesus Christ!

Verse 5 Giving all diligence- make every effort try all we can, work as hard as possible to

Add to your faith virtue (morality, purity) or holiness

And to virtue knowledge (understanding of Christianity) or the word of God

2 Timothy 2:15KJV

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
 

Verse 6 And to knowledge temperance (self control, the ability to master or control your self desires and passions)

To temperance patience (endurance, constancy, steadfastly waiting for)

Psalm 37:7KJV

7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

James 5:7KJV

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

James 1:3-4KJV

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

And to patience godliness (reverence or respect of God)

2 Timothy 3:5KJV

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Verse 7 And to godliness Brotherly Kindness (brotherly love) but this is not just felt but rather love in action as you would help a brother or someone close

And to brotherly kindness Charity (love, God’s love in you made evident toward others) Love in action!

He that knoweth not love knoweth not God for God is Love

1 John 4:21KJV

21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
