INTRODUCTION

Why so many Discipleship Collectives?
*First area to FIZZLE OUT is discipleship > Like exercising or a good diet
We can function on Sundays > People PRIORITIZE what we AFFIRM w/ talk, time, celebration
In order for a discipleship movement to begin, we need to make it part of our church culture & personal lives
Happens by consistent EMPHASIS & EQUIPPING
Need CONTINUAL encouragement & accountability
We have determined four main elements to DISCIPLESHIP:
Holy Spirit
Word of God
Prayer
Fruit
FRUIT is the outward manifestation of true life in Jesus Christ
John 15:4–5 ESV
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

1.0 QUALITATIVE FRUIT

FRUIT reveals the NATURE of the tree:
Matthew 7:15–20 (ESV)
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
What are the QUALITATIVE fruit of a disciple?
Character of Jesus
Love
Romans 8:29 ESV
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.
Galatians 5:6 ESV
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.

2.0 QUANTITATIVE FRUIT

REPRODUCTIVE MULTIPLICATION is a sign of a MATURE DISCIPLE:
Mark 4:20 (ESV)
But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.
We are not only called to be disciples, but to BECOME DISCIPLE-MAKERS
Mark 1:17 (ESV)
And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
Discipleship Movement occurs when disciples are being made to the 4th Generation:
2 Timothy 2:2 ESV
and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.
Four Generations: Paul, Timothy, faithful men, others
Metrics of Discipleship:
Come and See (Unborn, lead the Seeker to Belief)
Follow Me (Child, lead the Believer to Serving of Others)
Fish for People (Young Adult, lead the Servant to Reproduce)
Disciple Disciple-Makers (Parent to Grandparent, focus on Generational Multiplication)
You are in one of these 4 categories
Which one are you in?

CONCLUSION

What is the END GOAL of discipleship?
Qualitative: CHRISTLIKENESS
Quantitative: MULTIPLICATION
