To Be a True Family

Ephesians 5:22-33KJV

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Ephesians 6:1-3KJV

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

As the family goes, so goes the church

As the family goes, so goes the neighborhood

As the family goes, so goes the nation

As the family goes, Where has our families gone?

With over a 50% divorce rate in this country and just as much in the church today we need to wake up and see we have a problem. We have many problems in our families here are some.

1. Today instead of a Holy Bible many are holding a bible full of holes.
2. Television both daytime and nighttime TV
3. Declining morals (affairs, time to read our wedding vows and understand them)
4. New Age ideals. (homosexual/lesbian marriages)

We are supposed to be “soldiers of the cross” the Bride of Christ, yet we are joining up to the enemy.

John 10:10KJV

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Satan feels if he can destroy the family he can destroy the Church, the Country, the places we live, our very families. And we are letting him do it!

Verse 22 Wives submit yourselves to your OWN husbands as to the Lord.

To submit to your husband is the will of God. You have the opportunity to show the world how a church is be toward Christ this is your testimony. “but God told me. . .” if God told you anything it is here in the Bible

Not a slave but submitted, not as with resentment but love.

Verse 23-24 the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church.

The husband is the head of the wife of the family. Husband before you start smiling and grasping your God given authority, remember with authority comes a price.

Colossians 3:18-19KJV

18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

Verse 25-30 Love your wives! Don’t be bitter against them! Remember if you make the decisions in the home you are the one responsible for that decision that wrong turn and all other slips in life.

 Keep your eyes off other “flesh” don’t look around. If you are married you are off the market!

Matthew 5:27-28KJV

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Ladies keep your eyes off other men.

Help her out! I help my wife wash the dishes I bought her a dishwasher!

1 Peter 3:7KJV

7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

And the wives must not be harsh toward their husband

1 Timothy 3:11KJV

11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

If there has been a wrong turn or a mistake you don’t need to rub his face in it, yes he is responsible; the fact that he carries that burden is enough.

Husbands don’t be bitter toward her you messed up learn from your mistakes and don’t blame her for it. You are the head of the family - you may delegate responsibility to someone but you are still responsible for all the decisions made!

What if he isn’t a Christian? First you must obey Jesus, then your husband. (Woman at Brother Hales’ church)

Yet remember you can win him to the Lord by the way you act toward him

1 Peter 3:1-2KJV

1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; 2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Verse 33 husbands love your wives and take care of them wives reverence your husbands!

Love – feel affection for her, adore her, be devoted to her

Reverence- respect him, admire him,
