Work For The Night Is Coming

Text: John 4:35KJV

35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.

There are many of us who are always so swept up in our daily chores, and the things of this life that we forget that we are running out of time in which to bring in the lost. It is like we are waiting for something to happen, a revival, a perfect time when every thing will “fall into place” so to speak. But Christ says that we need to look at the fields becaust they are white already to harvest. Not just ripe, but white that is to a farmer that the harvest isn’t just ready to pick it is dying in the field it is almost too late!

1.    Time is fleeting we cannot wait for the perfect time!

  1. We can’t afford to wait for the perfect time!

Ecclesiastes 11:4KJV

4 He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

  1.  We cannot let the things of life cause us to look back!

Luke 9:61-62KJV

61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. 62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

  1. Let us work as we have little time left to work in!

John 9:4KJV

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

2.     The harvest is great but there aren’t enough workers!

  1. There are plenty out there to bring in to salvation.

Matthew 9:37KJV

37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

  1.  We not only need to work fast, we need to pray for more help!

Matthew 9:38KJV

38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

3.    Let us always do the work of God not waiting for the “right time”

  1. Your work for God is for a reason!

1 Corinthians 15:58KJV

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

  1.  Let the whole world see you doing His work.

Matthew 5:16KJV

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

  1. The word of God does get things done even when we cannot tell!

Isaiah 55:11KJV

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
