Promises That Make a Difference
Promises That Make a Difference
Climatic Scene
Climactic describes the grand finale or the top point of a series of events, and it comes from the word climax. The climactic scene in The Wizard of Oz is when Dorothy and friends face the Wicked Witch of the West, for example. When you finally reach the top of a mountain, you’re at the climactic point!
Many movie producers will build the story around the Climatic Scene… First they set up the stage to build up to the climatic scene… They show how wicked and evil the witch is and how impossible their mission in life is.
They create perils that cause each character to face and overcome their fears
causing the audience to gasp in unbelief.
They cause the audience to doubt the success of the mission. But deep back in our minds we know that she is going to make it! She has to! we can’t have an ending where she doesn’t...
Because we know that she can...
Its in her if only she would realize it and not do things that aren’t helpful...
The Promises of God to us are the climatic moments we should build our lives on.
For Dorothy it was… I wanna go home… and the instruction was to
Follow the yellow brick road… find the wizard and he will help
Here are some of the promises Jesus made us!
The Promise of Rest (renewed strength)
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
The Promise of Clarity in Life (enlightenment)
John 8:12 (NKJV)
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
The Promise of Abundant Life (Growth)
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Most of the promises we find in the scripture involve our participation if they are going to make any difference at all.
Each promise describes our condition:
Tired - You who labor
Unable to see.. (lack of vision)
Barren Branches (bear no fruit)
The Promise of God is to break the lack in your life! The promises of God are spoken over you to fill the void to heal the broken to restore the afflicted to deliver the captives to give sight to the blind...
What is your need? God has a promise for you! what ever the need is God has a promise to cancel the wrong things in your life!
Each of these promises came with instructions… The yellow brick road...
come to me ( leave and go to Jesus)
follow me (Stop and Follow Jesus)
remain in me (Stay don’t leave His presence)
Each Promise breaks the power of sin in our lives!
You will find rest for your soul ( Live life refreshed and renewed)
You will walk in the light (gain understanding/wisdom)
You will bear much fruit (produce good things)
What is your need today? God has a promise for you!
God has a promise for your situation.
God Has a promise for this church for this nation
Are we willing to follow Him? Follow His instructions and face whatever we have to face to receive the promise?
Final reading
But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
Let’s pray!
