John 3- Being Born Again

Jesus has been doing miracles and people have been believing in him because of them!(John 2:23 ). One man comes to Jesus by night to learn from him and Jesus teaches an absolutely powerful truth! Jesus went straight to his point, and that was being born again.

How do I get born again?
Why do I need to be born again?
Why is it even important?
Jesus answers all of these questions for us! I pray that if you aren't born again you’d pay extra close attention, because God loves you and desires you to do so!
The Need to be born again (John 3:1-5)
We have to be born again because there's an issue with our first birth
We are born spiritually dead
Ephesians 2:3
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
We had no fellowship with God and we’re set to do sin.
Colossians 1:21 says we were enemies of God
And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
By Nature, it's who we were and what we did
Stuck sinning? This is usually a pretty good reason for it
Look at Nicodemus
He was wealthy, religious, and important
John 3:1
Despite his social standing he still needed to be Born again
Being religious doesn't do anything for you in God’s eyes
Isaiah 6:4
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
You can’t see or experience the Kingdom of God without being born again(John 3:3)
You can’t enter God’s Kingdom without being born again
You won’t go to heaven without it!
John 3:5
Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
The Nature of the New Birth (John 3:6-13)
It is spiritual (John 3:6-7)
Not literally being born twice
It is a spiritual birth
We are born again by the Spirit
John 3:6, John 6:63. Titus 3:5
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
We were spiritually dead but God can make us alive
You receive a new nature!
2 Peter 1:4
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
You become a new creature
2 Cor 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
It’s mysterious (John 3:8-10)
Like the wind
We can’t see it but we know it still works!
If you’re born again it shows
Fruit! Galatians 5:22-25
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Is their fruit in your life?
It is for real!

How to be born again!
Jesus had to die (John 3:14-17)
Jesus tells a story from Numbers 21
The people were being killed because of their sin
All of the suffered
Their sin was going to kill them
They could look to the bronze serpent by faith and be saved
The same is true for us!
We are afflicted by sin and spiritually dead
Romans 6:23, John 8:34-35
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
We can look to Jesus by faith and he can and will save us!
God loves you! You can believe on Jesus and be saved right now!
Believe on him and you’ll be born again!
Jesus taught an incredibly powerful truth! You can be born again! You can be saved! Trust him!
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
