Our culture tells us that one’s self-identity, political identity, gender identity, racial identity, and religious denominational identity are all things that truly make us who we are at the deepest level. But in our text, we find Peter calling believers to recognize and embrace an identity that isn’t psychological but Christological and one that isn’t inherited from our forefathers but one that was bestowed on us by our Heavenly Father.
