We ask all of this in the precious name of our savior. Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. Well, we are starting a new series, it's called Jesus. The Miracle Worker, and it's interesting, as we are going to look at several of the Miracles in the Book of John. And, you know, when Jesus came down and he performed Miracles. There are times when he performed so many miracles and healings that you know, it it seems like, you know, that's what he did half the time. And of course it probably was what he was doing most of the time but there are specific Miracles that are pointed out by each of the gospel writers. And we're going to take a look at some of them and John, and there's reasons that these particular Miracles are highlighted because they tell a picture, they give us a picture of The Wonder of God's. Grace for each and every one of us in there are number of aspects that really bring out that picture. As we look closely at each of these Miracles that we have, in fact, in scripture, they're often not called Miracles, but there's signs their signs of something really specific. And it most of the time and probably all of the time to be actual proof about it. Is that these signs point to the glory of God, You know, that's something that each and every one of us need to remember is that when we read through these and we see them, it is pointing out God's glory, he's revealing himself to people. Why? Because God wants a relationship with everyone of us. With each one of you one here, listening to day, God has a desire to have you be a part of that relationship with him and that's what often these Miracles reveal. There's some Earthly therapy circumstances that will look at and there's some heavily circumstances that each of these Miracles bring about And we're going to be looking at the water and the wine today and is found in John Chapter 2 and it's an interesting chapter, interesting Miracle because as it begins that talks about the third day, which is leading up to something. So what happened to lead up to this particular Miracle to make it really something standing out? Well, let me read that first verse there. John 2:1 on the 3rd. A wedding took place in Cana in Galilee. Jesus, Jesus, his mother was there. And in actuality, this is probably the fourth day that there were was one day that they start from. And then the first and second day, or the preceding days, it come about, but it is leading up to something. Remember that. This is the beginning of Jesus's, Earthly Ministry, and there are certain things that happen to start building that movement that he creates in his life leading up eventually to the cross. And his resurrection a departure from this world, but one of the things that it will lead up to is the ending in the ending, is what Jesus proclaims after the resurrection from Matthew 28:19, it says he says therefore go and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, that's a commission to the disciples but it's also a commission to each one of us and that's what I was mentioning earlier when we talked about the missionaries that come to us and we help them go out and spread the gospel through the world. that's following a command of God, but Their hand, something looking up to that and it began with Jesus going to John on the Jordan River and participating in his baptism. It's a step that he took along the way and we see that that was the beginning of this call. And remember that when Jesus went and was baptized by John, Jesus was went under the water as we all do and came out. And what happened, remember the spirit of the Living, God came down, the Holy Spirit. And God said, this is my beloved Son with whom. I am. Well pleased, think about that. All three were there. Well, what's the command here is? Therefore go and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In other words, the beginning The story and then the ending, all proclaim the activity of all free in life. And so we're leading up to that the first day after that, that there was water involved and we see John on the Jordan River and he's doing his preaching and he's doing his baptism that he performed. Remember, it was a baptism of repentance, it is a different baptism than we had, but he was doing this and he looks up and he sees Jesus coming. John 1:29 says the next day. John saw Jesus coming toward him instead. Look the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. In other words, what he was doing was he was recognizing the deity of Jesus Christ. He was the Lamb of God. Perhaps portraying the future sacrificial work that Jesus did on the cross, but he showed us that this was somebody that was absolutely exceptional different from everybody else that walked the face of the Earth. Why? Because he was gone. He was different than you and I and that he was perfect and holy and true. He is the Living God and John recognize that. So we have Jesus, taking that step and then John's baptism and then the Revelation that happens as soon as John portrays who he is, remember you said these the Lamb of God. While one of his followers was Andrew, you might remember Andrew, as one of the Apostles. He was the brother of Peter and when John pointed the picture of Jesus and who said, oh that's the guy I need to follow. And so we see and John 141. The first thing Andrew did, when he found Jesus Christ was the finest brother Simon and tell him, we have found the Messiah. That is the Christ. In other words they have been looking for the Messiah for centuries now. And all of a sudden there is a recognition that the Messiah has come So we see that he started to work. He is proclaim the deity and now he's playing the Messiah. And finally It is to demonstrate his glory. And one of the things that we have to remember about miraculous things is that their Revelations of God, Revelations of the work of God as was presented earlier, a miracle is something that cannot naturally happen in our in our world what happens because of something Supernatural bringing it into being And that John 141. He's talking to Nathaniel Nathaniel's come and he was questioning whether anything good could come out of Nazareth and

So, Jesus is chatting with him and he says, in verse 51, he says any added very truly. I tell you, you will see Heaven open in the angels of God ascending and descending on the son of man. In other words, Jesus is claim of deity happens. He tells Nathaniel yeah, I'm the real deal. I'm the one here was come and so that all leads up to this miraculous day that begins, Jesus is Ministry of Revelation here on this Earth, and that's the miracle of the wedding feast. And sometimes we focus so much on the wedding Feast. We forget, this was truly Christ work to reveal himself, to those who had need, and we'll find out who those are here in a bit. John 2 verses 225 Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. And when the wine was gone, Jesus his mother said to him, they have no more wine woman. Why do you involve me Jesus replied my hour has not yet come. Is mother said to the servants, do whatever. He tells you, interesting interaction there to isn't it between Jesus and his mother. Remember that Jesus is invited. That means he's probably some relation to. Whoever is getting married. It really doesn't talk about who's getting married, but he's probably a relation to them in some way and his mother recognizes his authority. The wedding relationship is a very powerful thing. Remember that in Genesis chapter one, we have God creating everything and he looks at and he says, this is good. and then the next chapter we find the creation of man and woman and he joins them together And Genesis 2:24 says, that is why a man leaves his father and mother and is United to his wife and they become one flesh. That's a picture. Of God's desire for a relationship between you and I and other words. We when we receive Jesus Christ, we truly are coming into a marriage relationship with the Living God. And that's part of this whole miraculous event and why it happens here and a message. That is the fourth. You know, there this is the human marriage. But we're looking forward to that marriage between God and man hadn't happened yet. Why? Because of men send Nan its end and they were separated from God and there had to be something that happened in order to bring that relationship about. Okay? So this is looking forward, this wedding is a picture of looking forward to that wedding. That we have in Jesus Christ. Okay, there's a problem. A problem has happened here. Why didn't why is this a problem? Well, and ax15 it says, John baptize you with water but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit water was important and we'll talk about that in a little bit. But the recognition here is that there is there are Earthly things that happened in John's baptism. Was an Earthly thing. It was a call to repentance to change life and live as God. Want you to live good man. Do it in their power. No John's baptism did not save it. Did not reveal salvation, even it revealed a desire to change and that was it but there's another baptism that is far more powerful and that is the baptism of the holy spirit that is coming. And so the problem was to be revealed was not just the the coming of the wine. But it was a revelation that there is something important that is coming in the future in the very near future. Well, there was an expectation by Mary renew. The Jesus Christ was born of God, as well as man, she knew that Jesus was gone. Now, he hadn't gone around performing a lot of Miracles or any Miracles up to this point. So, think about that a little bit. You know, Mary knows who he is. And there is an expectation on her part, is somehow he's willing to step up. Now, he interacts by saying, it's not my time. I'm not there yet. There was an expectation, the expectation came from a need in the marriage, ceremony of the need was to provide enough wind to last the evening, and if you didn't it made you look terribly bad. It. I brought some negative aspects for the rest of your life because you were not a proper provider and so she comes to him and says we've got a need this is a big need, our loved ones or going to not look good if we don't do something for this. Why? Well the water is there for a reason? Remember it was water jugs will go to that that had to do with it. But Mary knew that that he could do it and performed a miracle. And so, she actually was probably a leader and leading up to Jesus's Sermon on the Mount. When he says these words in the Matthew 7:8 for everyone who asks, receives the one who seeks finds into the one who knocks the door will be open. Well, Mary is knocking on, Jesus is door and saying we have a real need here. We have a real need and Jesus says, it's not his time and it wasn't his time yet nor was his time as he lived through most of his ministry. We find out the time comes when Jesus is falling on his knees before the Living. God, getting ready to go to the cross. And he says these words from John 17 One after Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed. Father, the hour has come Laura, fi your son, that your son may glorify you. And other words Jesus was looking forward to meeting that need Were the people of our world so the time wasn't right? But it was time to reveal himself to a world and let's read about, I didn't the the miracle account. John 2, through 11 nearby, stood, six, Stone water jars. The kind used by the Jews for a ceremonial washing each holding from 20 to 30 gallons. Those are heavy Stone jars. Jesus said, to the servants, fill the jars with water, and so they filled them to the brim and then he told them now. And now draw some some out and take it to the master of the banquet. They did. So the master of the banquet, tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize, where did come from, do the servants withdrawn, the water new, then he called the bridegroom aside and said everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper one after they guess. I've had too much to drink, but you have saved the best till now What Jesus did here in Canaan of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory and his disciples believed in him. And that's probably the most important portion. But remember that God is revealing himself through this miracle. This miracle is saying a lot more than just providing wine at a wedding Feast, it is far beyond that and we can look way back into the past to find a little bit of that sense of the miracle way back in. Exodus chapter 7, it says this, this is what the Lord says by this, you will know that I am the law. With the staff that is in my hand, I will strike the water of the Nile and it will be changed into blood. I think about that. It was the sign of who God is the changing of the wine to blood, which led to the saving of the people of Israel, from the Egyptians, you know, leading him out into the desert. It eventually to the promised land, but it was a revelation of the presence of God and that is what Jesus is doing here. In this particular, Miracle, he is revealing his presence Not only the people, but most of all and we find out it was to the disciples. What was the water for? You know, they have all these Stone jars and they were empty. Why were the empty? Because they'd already been used. The people that had came that had come to the wedding feast and use that water to cleanse their lives. They wash the outside they cleaned up their bodies, okay. And that's what the water was for. It was to clean the outside of their bodies. It was a ceremonial thing that they did at every time together. It was always water to cleanse and purify Mark 7. 3 says the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat, unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. It was Earthly provision for their lives, but Jesus has come to Broad. Find a Heavenly provision and we see that in the Turning of the water to wine. Remember what wine represents in so many ways? It can represent the blood as we took the juice. This this morning we were in the blood and how it was poured out for us. But one also represents the spirit the spiritual Spirit coming. After Christ, has been raised from the dead and we see Pentecost and the coming of the spirit and this is a picture of all of those things that we see in this miracle.

It's a desire to make you perfect. So that you can stand before the Living God, whole and complete. And we are when we come to know, Jesus Christ, as Lord and Savior, we are perfect before the Living God, why not? Not because he's examining Us by ourselves, but because he's examining us through Jesus Christ and the work he has done for our lives. In The Sermon on the Mount. Jesus says these words from Matthew 5:48, be perfect. Therefore, as your heavenly father is perfect, and if you one feel like you're perfect, Not hardly, but through Christ we aren't perfect. We are perfect because those imperfections can be washed away as we confess our sins before the Living God.

This is the beginning. This is the beginning of God's work. Jesus coming to this earth. John 1:14 says the word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one, and only son who came from the father. And truth. It was the beginning of his Revelation to the people of who he is. He is the Living. God, the one who makes all the difference But there's a very important person that's the last of those versus verse 11. When it says the disciples did and turned their faith to him, you see this miracle was done to reveal to them, the person they were actually following. You know, all those words were important and valuable to them understanding. He's the Messiah and all of that sort of thing. But when he performed the miracle, it really revealed his glory to the disciples, and it made them put their faith in him. Just like we need to put our faith in Jesus Christ. So a powerful miracle in the beginning of Christ Miracle on this Earth. Each to show us his glory in different ways and we'll see how he does it in. So many miraculous ways, God has an endless supply of different ways, he brings about his glory and so I hope that this reveals to you shows to you as we go through all these messages of his miracles that he is powerful and mighty and wants to show himself, holy and true to each and everyone of us. Let's pray. Grace's Father in Heaven. How we thank you for the miraculous work. You did we thank you for being willing to send Jesus Christ, your one and only son to this earth, to Reveal Your Glory to us and provide our Salvation. Lord help us. To remember that as we go forth in Jesus name, amen. Let Stanley close with doxology. praise God, from whom all blessings flow Jersey,
