You know i had been working on this sermon series for a few weeks now, i had poured allot of time thought and energy into it then it was Like God put up a brick wall and said no Ron I have something else I need you to talk about this week. So today I am going to summerise my sermon series that I had worked on because I dont know about you but I think coming our of 2020 in a post covid 19 world we all can use a little encouragement Amen.
WE all Have Struggles Amen, we each have seasons of life that for a moment feel good satisfing even but then there are other seasons where we are in desprite need and want. finacial trouble marital trouble , trouble at work with the boss or co workers, toruble with family mayber brothers or sisters maybe mom or dad or maybe your children. or maybe its your health or the health of a loved one, or even perhaps the loss of someone you love dearly
One thing is certain we all go through these seasons of life
looking back over the last year i dont know of anyone that hasnt know someone that has been affected by covid 19
Maybe you were sick maybe family was sick maybe coworkers
maybe you know someone who lost their life to this virus
Maybe you were effected emotionally , financially
When we go through these seasons in life if we fail to keep pur eyes focused on Christ we will sink
Story of peter
Even though we all go through theses seasons I fell Christians feel that they are supposed to be immune to them, and they begin to doubt when they are faced with hard times.
The blbile is clear we all will go through trials and tribulation
The bible is also clear that If we cling to God for he will never leave us that we will make it to the other side
So today i want to tell you a few things that i pray will help you to grow in your walk to remind you if the truth in Christ
1.The Bible says that he has not given us a spirit of fear
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
look I know its easy to fear the virus it has hurt so many
But I have peace in the storm for i know that God is in control that includes this virus
paul in philippians say be anxious for nothing
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Brethen listen to me now i know this has been a vary heated and politicized topic and i do not intend to do that
I tell you this be not so worried
We are so worried over everything in this country
The bible tells us not to worry to have faith to trust in God and seek him in prayer and we say nope i dont know god look at what im going through and we worry
We worry about everyhting
What others think of us
what car we drive and what others think of what car we drive
we worry about our home and what others think of our home, we measure our success in life by the things we have or do not have and we worry
WE worry too much
We are to be in prayer and supplication with the lord trusting in him that he will supply our needs
Jesus addresses this in matthew where he says
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
do we not have faith that he will supply
just above this text he says
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Be not afraid be not anxious
One of the fruits give to the beliver is peace
Have you had peace or are you living in fear are you walking with God or are you sinking because you have taken your eyes from Him
Seek First the kingsom of God
I have had peace through this entire year
as Romans 8:28 says
I have found the good
The extra time spent with my children
the freedom to go places we couldn't go before because we were tied down with school
Did i worry about the virus
It was on the back of my mind we lost a former member of our church and had family come down with it, so did I think about it yes
Was I worried
NO!
Why ? Because the bible says that all thing work together for the Good and I trust God
That even when I dont understand I know he knows what he is doing
I also know that the bible teaches that we have a appointment with God then comes judgement
The we cannot add one minute to our life that God is soverign over when and how we will die not me
There fore what will worry do. not much it wont build the kingdom it wont seek the lost it wont love thy neighbor and it will not add one minute to my life. I am ready to see my lord death does not frighten me i am content
As paul writes
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
For me to Die is such a blessing as i gain eternity with Christ Why would I fear death
To Live is to continue not in fear of death but in the freedom of Life to do for christ to live for Christ
To seek Christ
To Seek His Kingdom
To go out into the byways and highways compelling them to come ing it is a great pleasure a great honor to live in service to our King our Lord Jesus Christ
It is the greatest honor known to man
So Christian Lift your head High Fear not anymore
God loves you enough that He sent His son to die on your behavl not just to anguist in agoney of stress or worry of anxousness
But in the Spirit of freedom that you have been chosen not only to live in Him but to Live for Him so stand up take pleasure in knowing that to live is Christ to die is gain
We as Christians have nothing to loose and everything to gain
So be encouraged my beloved be not fearful anymore
When you feel that temptation creeping in rememeber what paul says
rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice
CAn you rejoice with me this evening stand and give God some praise
